Is eating well good enough? | Arthritis Information

I pasted this from the vegan thread hoping to get more advice!

I don't have any bloating or heaviness when I eat dairy or meat.  My digestive system runs pretty smooth except for gastritis that I got from nsaids, and once I got really gassy from taking too much acidolphilus. I had to take a antibiotic that works only in the digestive system for that and then I was fine.  The only thing I've found that causes more pain the next day is microwave popcorn.  As I've said before I eat a good diet; almost no processed food.  So when people tell me to cut out this and that, I know I already eat better than a good percent of average Americans.  I  would like to know if anyones' RA has gotten significantly better by restricting their diet further.  On another note, I am losing muscle mass fast and I think I need the extra protein (probably more than I'm used to) to help combat that.

Thanks,

Jodi

I feel better when I eat more fruit/vegetables, less processed crap, and less omega-6 fats.  I've never liked dairy foods, so I don't know if they affect me or not. Have been eating no processed foods and no sugar for awhile and I feel much better.  In the last 3 months I've gone off this diet because of dessert and each time I felt terrible afterwards and had more inflammation than prior.  I think diet has an effect on our disease but I don't feel that it's individual foods I think it's a much larger picture.  I've found that processed sugar is truly evil and  I avoid it at all costs. Fresh fruit, vegetables, hormone free and range fed meats make up my diet.   I've lost 10 lbs and my husband has lost 20 and both of usfeel so much better.  I've also cut my portions in half and eat 5 small meals a day.  My extra protein comes in bean form.  I love all types of beans and usually make a pot of some type weekly and we have those in addition to meat.  Protein is really important to me because I'm exercising more now than I have in years.  Keep up the good eating habits, it will pay off.  LindyMMMMmmmmmm....rice and beans.

Once you get used to eating healthy the thought of eating something all
fatty and processed is really off-putting.

I think as long as you fell pretty good and are getting enough nutrients just
keep doing your thing.
