my methotrexate | Arthritis Information

I was ill last week with vomiting and breathless, and wheezing cough..i also have asthma.

I was sent to hospital my gp was worried that it was the methotrexate. But i was discharged the next day, doc said i had a virus.

I am 10 days down the line from then, and i havent been sick anymore, but i get terrible nausea to the point i have to run to the loo as i feel like i am going to be. I still have a terrible wheezy cough, which is continuous all day.

If this had been a virus surely i would be over it by now, so do you think its maybe the meds. I am it GPs on thursday, but i dont know if i can wait that long. I feel so ill today, the nausea  is so overwhelming, and i am coughing until i am nearly sick.

What do you think

It would be tough to hazzard a guess whether its meds or virus.  It sounds like a virus to me.  With a suppressed immune system it could be hanging on.  It could also be the virus has caused pneumonia at this point.

Either way..call your doctor it is time for more intervention

Debbie, it could be the MTX or it could be an infection. Whatever it is I doubt you can wait until Thursday, sweetie, you sound really sick.

I would be going to the doctor as soon as possible.

You really need to find out what this is and get it treated.

Time to take some action, you can't go on like this until Thursday, no way.
Hi Debby, I'm really sorry that you're having to go through this.  Call your doctor and get in right away to see him/her.  You need to be seen.  It could be either one, or it could be a combination of meds and virus.  Even if it's a virus you can still develop pneumonia.  Because of your weakened immune system you may have picked up a bacterial infection or even another viral infection.  You need to be checked out sooner than later.  Keep us posted.  Lindy.ok thanks for your advice....I will phone emergency gp in the morning...i am on my own with the kids for the night, so if i had to go to hosp i couldnt leave them...hubby will be back tomorrow ..thanks again

Oh Deb...get some sleep and stay warm.  Keep that chest out of the night and morning air.  I am sure your air is turning very damp.  Brew some tea, and just sit covered and sipping it.  You will break out into a sweat, but don't move until you are finished.
