NOTE:

This study appears to be from a class action lawsuit between Warner-Lambert/Pfizer and 50 state Attorney General's.

Also note - the competing interests - the researchers worked as paid witnesses for BOTH the plaintiff's and the defense. Hmmmmm. And this is what they BOTH came up with.

The link didn't work.

I've met many drug reps; the drug companies prize physical beauty and persuasive personality over knowledge and character in their drug pimps (oops I mean pharmaceutical sales representatives).

LOL -

OMG!  I was drinking a soda and pffftt!  Toooooo funny!

P.S.  I seem to have caught GoGo's laptop posting virus - meaning it's been adding in an extra space.  Please reload the URL and then delete any blank spaces.  This is an incredible study.  I mean, "who knew?" - we suspected but...

Here's a link

I just read the article... yep, just as I've seen in the drug pimps I know.  Scary stuff indeed. Jasmine, your statement certainly made me chuckle.  My mom is in her 70's but still works part time as a phone operator in a clinic.  I was at her house and went to grab a pen to write something and all she had were viagra and cialis pens.  Now, how did my nice little old mother (who has not romantic interest in her life now) get these.  Yup, the pimps gave them to her.  Well, at least she shares them with her older sister

LMAO - drug pimps.  Oh I remember their pushy ways when I worked for an endocrinologist.  I used to tell them that they'd have to wait until there were no patients.  If they didn't want to wait then  they could go stand in the middle of the waiting room and tell the ten waiting patients that they'd have to wait longer because it was more important for Ms. Drug Pimp to see the doctor than the sick patients.  They drove me crazy.  Sometimes I'd have 2 or 3 in the office at the same time.  They also thought that they could go to our drug storage area and leave their samples and rearrange it.  That was an old habit that several of them had and when I began to work there I stopped them from going into drug storage.  They had to leave their samples on the desk.  I could go on and on with the stories.

Jasmine, you're so right cute, pretty, handsome, tactless nature are much more important than anything else when hiring a drug pimp. I was approached and recruited by several companies who made surgical instruments and implants.  Because of their lack of ethics I couldn't accept any of the offers, they were tempting but not what I wanted to do.  Lindy

If the reps are the drum pimps, does that make the doctor the drug pusher or user?

I was employed by an internist for 15 years and I had a good relationship with all of the reps and they all respected my wishes.  My doc did not see many of them, in fact very few as he relied on me to secure the samples and move them on. Since I have been away from the business, I still see some of them at the docs office that I go to and I still get a great big smile and a hug and a chat if they have time.  Times have changed, that's for sure and getting respect is becoming a rare thing of the past.   now & then39354.7349074074

Now and Then, Unfortunately, the doctor that I worked for enjoyed having the drug reps as an audience.  He would chat forever with them and they had gotten in the habit of just walking in and expecting to be escorted to his office.  My philosophy was they never came before the patient and they never disrupted the office routine.

After awhile they realized that procedures had changed and they sort of fell into step but it was difficult retraining a group who had had the run of the office.  If you've been in an office for a long time then you've been able to train them on office procedures and they understand and respect you.  Unfortunately, I started to work there and changed the procedures to benefit the patients and not the drug reps. It took awhile for the dust to settle, new reps came onboard and eventually everything ran smoothly.

Man, pharma reps are like roaches. You get rid of one, 2 more come in it place. And then they take up so much of the doctors time, when it should be spent with patients!
