Take care,

Wow Lisa, this sounds strange, I've never heard of craving salad, candy yes, salad no

The itchy spot and bruising sounds like it could be something going on in your blood. I would call up my Dr's office and tell the nurse and see what she thinks. I bet they'll want you to come in

I will definetly see the doc about the bruising too

edited to say thanks everyone for your replies

pin cushion39356.4027777778Let us know Lisa.  I see an Opthamologist (sp) this Thurs. for answers myself.  I let my eyes go until the eye muscles went into spasms and was rx'd Restasis which has helped some.  I didn't know that they were dry, lol.

Are you sure your not preggo Lisa???

Hope you get it figured out...Iceberg lettuce is one of the worse kinds of lettuce to eat.  There is no nutritional value in Iceberg.  But like the others have said, at least its not candy that your craving..

I wish it was candy, it would at least have some taste. I have eaten 6 bags today, and its only 6.30 pm here...........My local supermarket cant keep up, i will have to go to Asda's................oh cant go there but thats another post.............

you mean you dont belive in Santa and the Tooth fairy ??????

6 Bags!!!! Lisa have you been bitten by a flippin rabbit??? You're turning into a wererabbit! You know...like a werewolf? Pretty soon when your supply runs out you'll be howling at a full moon and stalking green grocers!

No kidding, are you eating this green stuff plain or with any dressings? You know this ain't normal

Easter bunny?????????? Oh shannon of cause i believe in the easter bunny but i dont like him as he will eat all the lettuceAre you taking prednisone? GrammaSkittle's daughter craves spinach on prednisone. No pred?????

That is weird... talk to your Dr about it. Maybe they can run some deficency tests on ya.

Maybe you just like salad....

When my Mom had cancer her body wanted sugar, sugar, and more sugar. Cancer LOVES sugar. It was weird because she wasn't into sugar before that. I've never heard of cancer wanting lettuce---seems like a long shot.

Like people have said, at least it's healthy and low calorie!

Thats the thing Gimpy I have never been a salad eater. It started when i was trying to wash a lettuce back in april and all of a sudden i was stuffing it in my mouth like a mad person, I have even woke hubby up in the early hours of the morning and hes fetched me a bag of salad and fed it to me. We went to a curry dinner  last weekend at my nephews and my nephew had a bag of salad there for me.I didnt realise it had been noticedWell, I would definately mention that to your doctor next time you visit, but I wouldn't make a special appointment for it. But that's just me...

I have had foods I hated, suddenly liked, and then couldn't get enough of before, but it never went on and on and on.
Pinnie, you may have developed a Pica disorder. Here's some reads on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pica_(disorder)

While Pica TYPICALLY refers to eating of non-food items, it can also be used to describe someone who craves nutrient deficient foods. (ie-iceberg lettuce!)
Pin, the first thing I thought was that you were pregnant because I was eating salad, broccoli and steak like that before I even knew I was pregnant.  But since you've ruled that out, I have no idea what this is.  About a month ago, I could NOT stop eating McDonald's bacon-egg-cheese biscuits.  I never eat that crap!  Never!  But the craving was undeniable.  So I sometimes ate 2 a day!!  OMG!  I would even freak out as it got closer to 10:30AM, because I knew that after 10:30 I would have to wait until the next day to go get one (McD's is right up the street from the office).  I figured I might as well just go with it, and let it run its course - trying to fight cravings has never worked for me.  It lasted about a week, and now I'm back to eating a Zone bar and having a cup of rooibos tea in the morning for breakfast.  I still don't know what that was about!  I've not been back to McDonald's since then.

Make sure you ask about Sjogren's at your next appt. Ice berg lettuce has a lot of water in it and if your mouth is dry, I can see how that would be appealling. I have Sjogren's and love pediapops! In the meantime, drink lots of water, maybe with a bit of lemon in it and see if doing that kills the lettuce craving. At least it isnt something that is causing you to gain weight, but you probably spend lots of time in the little bunnies room....

Deb

I am seeing the doctor at 9am tomorrow for the bruising on my legs and will ask him about the lettuce eating. Deb you are right about the bunnies room

Thanks for all your good advice, I am hoping thats its just a fad and i will get out of it but its ony 10am here and I have munched my way through 2 bags already. I tried really hard not to but its like an exsmoker who craves a cigarette. I am going to buy some fresh lemon and try iced water with lemon today to see if it is a dry mouth problem.
