Aquatic physical therapy | Arthritis Information

Has anyone here done aquatic physical therapy?  I'm not talking about water aerobics or exercise programs, but actual physical therapy that's done in a small pool.

I see my rheumy this afternoon and I finally found two places relatively close to me that offer this.  Since the regular physical therapy wasn't working (very painful, no real gains), I was wondering if this might be a better option.

The same month I was diagnosed with a herniated disk L5/S1 and sciatica I was also diagnosed with a severe onset of RA.  After I had a lumbar decompression I needed PT but it hurt so bad that I had to stop.  My doctor then suggested aqua PT and I had APT 2Xweek for a month.  It felt absolutely wonderful. By that time I was able to go for regular PT but declined and decided to start walking twice a day.  Even with the severe onset of RA I'd take a pain pill and walk around the block, or I should say shuffle around the block.  I made the 90 years olds look like they were racing.  It worked for me and my back recovery went well.  I wish I could say the same for recovery from RA.  Lindy

Thoroughly, absolutely 100% go for it! It is so relaxing, i nearly go to sleep in the water, it is so relieving. Couldn't rate it highly enough. Just be careful not to over do it in the water, it is really easy to over do because it feels so good. < ="text/">_popupControl();

I used to go to aqua therapy once a week for about 3 years. I loved it in the pool and my PT would get in the pool and give each person individual help. She would print out a programme depending on our health problem and we were to follow it the best we could depending on whether it was a good day or bad. My driver who took me there stopped going so I had to also
