jodejjr39359.845775463Jode I would do just that, and QUICKLY. It sounds like you may be a victim of identity theft. I'm not saying you ARE, just that there's a chance. The sooner you catch it the better off you'll be. Good luck!!! HI Jode, I think Katie is right, keep a record of all the possible fraudulent stuff and report it asap to your banks just in case.  Best of luck, and get yourself a paper shredder, its amazing what we throw in our garbage that gives away so much about us.  hugs Janie. Call them today!!!!! You don't want your credit getting messed up.Definatley call them today and get to the bottom of this.

You were right, identity theft....so I am signed up with everything to avoid further trouble and contacted the SS dept...prob change my name and ss # even though they rarely do that these days I have enough  documentation I may be able to get that done.

Oh fun.

Identity theft creeps. my numbers will be followed and try to catch whoever for freud then I can file charges and get them some time in jail......it may take some time but the attorneys said it has been done before.

For now, I am gonna be a non-person......I kind of like the anonimity of that actually.

Thanks for youru help and pray we find out and  get whoever is doing this. They have a good idea whom it may be because I only know of 3 people who have ever had knowledge of my ss number and the rest are simply businesses so they will sort through all that and  break that  down and do it by process of elimination, then watch and contact me, then go for the arrest.

Glad that you called and it's being tracked, but certianly sorry that it happened to you!!!

Keep up with them, make sure they're following through. Also, ask them if they can let you monitor your credit online FOR FREE. My mom was a victim as well, and the gov't is paying for her to monitor her credit online for the next 3 years. I'm not sure if you're eligible, as it was the gov'ts FAULT that my mom's ssn was stolen. But anyway, it's worth the ask!!!

Yeah well I have just about had it, all this took about 3 hours to do and I still have a few calls to make on Monday. The people with the bills will more than likely sue but I have backup for that. I have very little in my name because this has happened before after a breakup...so it is just the same crap just another year.......only this time I have friends of friends backing me and going the xtra  to help out.

keep on top of it, because I could get ugly fast.  I am so sorry this happened to you.  My sister had her medical records stolen, and they got her social from that.  I took almost a year for her to clear this up.  I hope yours is a lot faster.  So sorry...Hugs to you...shel

Who in the world steals medical records? Those are to be confidential! There are laws that protect from that also.

Ya know, I did not ask for this and I have very little to my name because this has happened before. When this did happen before I was told by nearly 8 people that your SS # is the easiest to obtain adn it can be done online even when you have never placed your SS# online. There are companies out there that store that info and people hack in.

There are times when I just want to disappear and appear somewhere else and begin my life over again. Persue the things I wan to persue and not have all the hassle of maintaining and problem solving other peoples lives....as in...someone to take care of me for a change. That will not happen any time soon so here I am , fighting for my rights that should have never been violated to begin with.

Hi Jode,

What I would also do is get a copy of your credit report from all 3 reporting agencies to check for any other discrepancies.  You can get a free credit report through www.annualcreditreport.com.  If you find any fraudlent accounts on your reports, they can be disputed online.  There's also a way to flag your info so that any companies being asked to extend credit will see that you've been a victim of identity theft and there are precautions that they have to follow.
