Stills from birth | Arthritis Information

Hi there

I was wondering if anyone has still's disease and if they have experienced it from birth.  My husband Ben has had symptoms from birth.  He has attacks or flare ups of fevers, night sweats, abdominal pain, pleurisy, joint pain, etc which last for a week or so and he has these attacks on average 1 week out of every 4 but when he is well he has no sypmtoms at all.  He takes predinsolone during an attack then stops and has been on and off plaquenil but it doesn't seem to help.  Love to hear from others.

Take care Karen

KarenNTx38582.2900694444Hi there and thank you for your welcoming words.  It is so nice to not feel so alone.  Ben has been on most anti arthritis type drugs but due to his disease not affecting his joints solely or him not having joint pain after an attack they generally don't do much and with his stomach the way it is they can do more harm than good.  Have been looking on web for other medications that are around and have found etanercept/enbrel and anakinra/kineret which are both in their trial stage from what I can gather but will have to go to Dr to find out more.  Ben has had the same rheumatologist since he was 6 a Professor Cleland in Adelaide.  We live in the Barossa Valley which is 1 1/2 hours away he is great but Ben has given up going due to the same tests which say the same thing, we try something new and nothing changes for him.  Finding this message board and having people respond has done us wonders.  So thank you very much and look forward to chatting often.
