My skin on both sides of my neck has become dark and odd looking. It started as splotches in January after I had the flu. I thought maybe it was from being sick. But now it has spread quite a bit and is a more solid dark area. My hair somewhat covers it so people don't notice too much but it is becoming more pronounced. Any ideas?

Get to a dermatologist. If you haven't tanned there for any reason, and you can't determine if perhaps a new detergent is making your clothes bleed onto your skin, you'll be better off getting this looked at. It's the same rule you follow with moles, if it changes color get it checked. What color is it, exactly?I agree with Katie, get to the dermatologist. With your other problems, it needs to be checked. Sounds odd to me and haven't a clue as to its cause. vitiligo?  morphea? justsaynoemore39360.7111574074Hi, I would have it checked out.  It is common for women (if on hormones or pregnant) to get melasma and the sides of the neck are where it shows up frequently.  It is hyperpigmentation of the skin and the dermatologist can prescribe skin bleach.

how long has it been since you've checked your thyroid levels.  Melasma is fairly common with being Hypo.  It could be your thyroid meds are off a bit
