Leg muscles - twitching sore weird pain | Arthritis Information

Ok... so... I have this weird sensation in my right leg more than my left.

My calf muscle is twitching, it feels sore, and there is some kinda weird pain in my shin. My calf is swelled more than it normally is. I am guessing it is inflammation in my muscle again. At least that is what I am going with anyways.

Last night when I woke up with my right hip hurting the inside of my right thigh was twitching, and felt very sore. and made it hard to sleep on my left side. And I could not sleep on my right side because my right hip hurt more if I laid on it.

I am having a lot of new weird symptoms going on the last few weeks. My memory is soo bad, I am not even sure if I have already had these symptoms before or not. It seems like this is the same that happened when the pred was not enough and I had inflammation in my muscles.

ok.... no one has anything on this?

Oh well... I am going to go take a darvacet and fall to sleep.

Night All

It is not nice that you keep saying blood clot, as my platelets are on the high side. But they said it was from re-activated mono.

But it is now in both legs and my knees are killing me. I just touched my right knee cap to rub it and it felt like someone bashed me in the knee with something. It hurt. I am to the point of taking darvacet as recommeneded, 2 times daily.

I have twitching a lot. My dr thinks it is from nerve malfunction or maybe fibro as I have some symptoms of fibro. Is the pain in the same muscle that is twitching? I also have muscle pain, but not usually in the one that is twitiching.  My twitiching lessened when the immunosuppresant started to work and also is less when I am on more prednisone, so I think (my completely non-medical opinion) that it is from inflammation in the nerve or muscle. Are you having a flare? Maybe it is inflammation. I'm sorry, it is incredibly annoying, esp when trying to fall asleep. I hope you get some rest.

p.s. went to my much dreaded appt with the urologist today. You were right.  He thinks it is IC. Having a scope in 2 weeks. Giving up caffeine cold turkey starting tommorrow. Oh joy... sigh.

I twitch and hurt all the time. But it is better to check things out. I am a worrier. That is who i am. I often ignore things thinking it is fibro. I had cramps in my hip, And lower abdominal cramps a few months back. I ignored it and it was a bladder infection. So ther was a month i could have felt better.

I sorry, Laker. It is nasty. I hate to have to give up caffiene. I do not drink much of it, but man.... I like to be able to slurge a little.

No, I have twitching going on every where in my legs. I got it in my calves, the outside of my knees, my thighs, and inside of my thighs.

The twitching in my calves does seem to be where the pain and soreness is.

I probably in a flare... heck if I can tell anymore. It is all about the same to me now that I am on only pred. But I have been having a lot of pain and swelling more than normal and lots of stiffness. I am having a hard time getting up from a seated position or even getting outta the bed.

So... I guess I am in a flare. Probably from this crappy weather.

Oh well... my darvacet is kicking in... I am going to go lay down and probably fall asleep

That does not sound good. I think you should see a doctor. . My dr said prednisone can cause twitching, but after a while we realized it was less when I was on more pred. How much pred are you on? Or maybe it is from stopping a med. I wonder if the muscles could be being affected by some sort of deficiency? These are wild guesses of course, but I would feel better if you saw a dr. Call your dr tommorrow!!

Yeah, there was no twitching when I was doing the 18 days of pred tapper. Starting out at 30mg and then down to 5mg over a course of 18 days.

Right now I put myself on 10mg as 5mg was not doing much of anything.

I think it is inflammation. As it twitches more the more I am active. And my hips just feel soo weak. I cannot stand long, walk long and getting up outta the seated position is slow going.

Oh well... daughter just pulled a tooth out got go check on her.

Chrise - I would not be able to put up with this twitching for years. It would drive me nutzo! I am sorry you have been dealing with this for so long. I hope you can get a dr to look at it and fix the problem.

Ok, it does get worse at night. My right big toe feeling numb, just started that in May I believe. And Not sure I would classify, my sensations in my calf as "pins & needles". It feels like... well... I cannot think off hand how it feels, it just feels like it is over exerted & sore when something touches it too hard.

6t5frlane,

Thanks for posting the web address. It sounds exactly like what I have. It makes sense that it lessens when I am on more meds. It definitely worsens when I am sick. Why didn't my dr ever tell me about this!

Fibro yes causes twitching, on no meds what so ever. With fibro it is something different everyday. I told a nurse once my head could fall off and roll down the hall and it wouldn't surprise me a bit. i get alot of wierd nurological stuff, But i had a mri of my brain and all was fine. The swelling in your calf muscle how is that today? That concerned me much more than the twitching?

Oh it is better, thanks for asking.

Oh well... more to add to my List-o-complaints for my RD.
