Horrible fatigue, dizziness | Arthritis Information

Grrr... I'm home from work today.  For the past several days I've been pretty damn tired, despite getting adequate sleep (approx 6-7 hrs/night).  My feet are bothering me more than usual; neck and hands are acting up as well.  Yesterday and today, I am also a bit dizzy and uncoordinated, which seems to be from the absolute fatigue.  I've just put a call into the rheumatologist to get a Medrol dosepak.  That always knocks down these annoying little flares... GRRR!!!  I have an appointment coming up in November.  Perhaps we will talk about one of the DMARDs at that time.  Right now I am leaning towards Plaquenil or Minocin.  I will also talk with her about increasing or changing the Zoloft.  At first, the Zoloft really helped diminish the pain.  It doesn't seem to be as effective 3 months later.  I am on a low dosage (50mg), so perhaps an increase will help.

Well, I'm going to grab a bite to eat and then go right back to bed.
Jasmine - I am glad you are resting, our number one cure.  I am going to talk an employer into nap time someday.  20 minutes does wonders.  Take care, and you have enough experience, that you know that "this too shall pass".  CathyI'm sorry your having a bad day. Don't you hate using sick days at work when you are really sick? I hope the pred kicks in quickly and you feel better soon.Yea, it really bites.  In addition to getting adequate sleep at night, I've been napping every day since Saturday.  I came home 2 hours early yesterday from work so I could nap before picking up the kids from their no-school field trip with the park district.  And last night it was all I could do to get dinner ready.  When my husband got home from work, I was sitting on a stepstool in the middle of the kitchen, with my head in my hands... too exhausted to put the vegetables in the nuker.  He finished the dinner prep (pork chops were already in the oven) and I was able to lay down again.  I was too tired to eat dinner!  I did get up later and grab some leftovers before going "to bed" for real.

Very annoying.  GRRR.

oh Jaz...I am so sorry.  I know how you feel.  I also was on the 50mg of Zoloft, and that is not even an adequate doseage.  My GP just switched me to Effexor, b/c it does block the dopamine reaction in the brain.  You may want to consider that.  I would also cancel all of my appointments this week and just take it as easy as you can.

Yep, I think you are at the point where you will need a DMARD, sorry it has come to this.  Soak in some Epsom salts and go back to bed.  REst all you can and try to stay ahead.  If you are in pain...you are probably in pain while you sleep, so take a vicodin and soak and then go to sleep for a WHILE.

Love ya honey...keep us informed...shel

Yep, I just popped a Vicodin and I'm going to take a Dead Sea Salt bath (hopefully my oldest son has not used up all my salt again!!!).  One of the things I've learned from my medrol dosepaks is that once the pred kicks in, I realize just how bad I was hurting all over.  It's amazing.  The last time I did a dosepak, about 3 days into it I felt really, really strange - in a good way.  I sat for a while to figure out what it was.  It was the complete absence of pain from my neck, my hips, my shoulders... these were all areas that I didn't even realize were bothering me.  I had grown used to it.

Yep...that is what happened to me when I took them a couple of weeks ago.  I looked at my pain meds, and said...hmmmm I haven't hardly taken any...Just a half here and there, but nothing consistant.  Then when I was finished about the third day it all came back, and worse than before.  YEP...hated that!!!  I also love the "energy" I have on the Medrol dosepack!!!  Energy is in short supply in my life.

Hi all, is there something like Prednisone tht we can take that

Anyways... I hope the day off work does the trick and the pred dose pak! Oh and I am so glad you can get outta the tub by yourself. Before I gave up on taking tub baths, one day I had to wait for hubby to come home from work to help me outta the tub. It is a good thing I procrastinate about doing things... like I waited 30 mins before hubby was to be home to take my bath, and well... I could have been stuck in the tub for hours, if I would have took it when I thought of it.

No more tub baths for me, only showers. At least I can get in & outta those by myself for the most part.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Jazzy!  Maybe you just pushed a little too hard recently getting the bed and others things done.  You're body is saying hold on now - I need to take it easy!!!I got some prednisone today. 60 mg for 3 days, then 40mg for three days then 20 mg, for 3 days. I am awake but week, will probably get shakier before it is all said and done. Dose this dose sound normal? If it makes me feel better then i don't mind the side effects. Seems like alot but i havn't had prednisone in years i don't remember?oh, i did have dizziness about two months ago it was pretty bad, had fatique. Didn't know i had RA at the time, did have a bladder infection. I had fatique also. So i never investigated the cause of the dizziness, just decided it was the bladder thing, whish took me four weeks to go to the doctor. Well i didn't know what to tell him. I didn't know why i was sick. So you never know if it's unusual you could have a flare i would think and still be human and get other things.
