Sooo.... yesterday I went to my GP to get the update on my bloods and x-rays from before I went on holidays.

Bloods....my iron is heading south again, just when I thought it was going to stay put.  So that means a trip back to the hematologist.  Maybe another iron infusion.  Probably more tests to see if there is ANY reason for this see-sawing iron level.

X-rays..... hands...Right hand looks fairly good, all the bones in the palm are identifiable and clear, knuckles and fingers good.  Left hand, bones in the palm look like mashed potatoes, knuckles and fingers good.    Knee replacements....good placement no problems.   Neck...C3/4 no space at all between vertebrae at all. No wonder when I turn my head I hear and feel clunking.  C4/5 has narrowing of the neural canal.  When I turn my head I get pins and needles and weird feelings down my right arm.  When I asked about treatment I was basically told fusion would be the next step.  Not happy.  Definitely not ready for that one.

Sore soles of the feet... falling arches.  So off to the podiatrist for orthotics. (and granny shoes)

Breakthrough pain...ask the Rheumy on Friday when I see her.  Also get a referral from her to an orthopedic surgeon for removal of the bursa in my left hip which won't settle and has a huge sac full of fluid attached to it.

I'm still in denial,  I'm not ready for this.  I hate this.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Oh Pammy..........you need a cocktail..... Yeah, katie's right.  Before too long, you'll be good as new.  That bursa thing in your hip sounds painful.  How do they remove it?  Do they replace it with anything?  If not, how will your hip be without it?

Pammy...just look at the bionic women.  You will be our first.  I am happy that they are being pro-active.  I hope they continue on that vein.  Take care and vent any time you need to.  shel

Bionic woman?  Sweet.  Think of all the crime you'll stop!  Make sure they give you an eye and an ear too.  You will be unstoppable.

Jay

PS Not all of the Granny shoes are ugly. But they used to be.

I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. Big hugs to you.

Thanks guys.  Its always nice to have somewhere to vent that isn't the family.  I don't like stressing them and they all get really stressed when I tell them what is happening, I tend to sugar coat it for them a bit but I know hubby worries.  It is better than being in the dark but I just don't like facing the reality of what this crappy disease is going to do to me.

A cocktail sounds like a good idea...I had a couple of those on that South Pacific holiday I just had....flowers and little umbrellas and everything
