As I read through the posts I picked up on something interesting....alot of us are in their 40's. Before dignosis this year I really thought the pain was just a part of getting older. So my question is how old where you when you were diagnosed.

 I am 40.

34...A year I will never forget

I was DXed at 18 months old.

But my mom just found out she has the RA Factor in her blood and she is 49. Started having problems a couple of years ago.

50, a great yearI was 14 when i started seeing symptoms and started seeing a rheumy. Diagnosed probably at 15. I'm 25 now. At age 47.

me? I was 34 and I will never forget it!!

Welcome Chrise!!!!

For me it was at the age of 55 and the most painful 3 weeks of my life to date...

Diagnosed at 44.

dx at 19Diagnosed at 30...I'm 45 nowAge 32 (formally diagnosed at age 33), after two of the most stressful years of my life (marriage, 2 babies less than a year apart, husband's heart attack, mom and stepmom battling cancer, dad almost died of complications of back surgery, oldest baby constantly sick, youngest sister cutting all ties w/family).

Things have calmed down considerably now (how could they not???

I was 3 yrs old when I was formally diagnosed but had been having issues since I was about 8 months old.began having issues in middle school and diagnosed at 19.40 years old, but had symptoms 3+years.44 years old.46 ... I'm 59 now. I had no warning symptoms, it just hit me one day like a ton of bricks.

36 years old, but had sx for approximately 2 years.

22-23 years old with symptoms from about age 15Ra 42   OA at 17.Robin...you got osteoarthritis at 17?  I didn't know that could happen.  And then to get slammed with RA.  You poor thing.

DX at 55 but had symptoms a few years earlier.

My sister was hit hard all of a sudden at age 62.

DX AT 34 JUST LAST YEAR I WAS LIKE YOU AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS PAINS FROM GETTING OLDER THEN IT GOT JUST TO SEVERE AND WASN'T ABLE TO GET OUT OF BED WENT TO DOCTOR THEN TO THE RHEUMY AND WAS DX WITH THE GOOD NEWS. 45 for me. I think I was dxd around 34, but it started in my hands 2 years prior when I was pg with 1st DD. Hi! My Ra started in 2002. I was 49 then. The Ra made me feel like I was 94 instead of 49. I was in to bodybuilding, and trying to get back in shape when the Ra started

I was 60 when I was diagnosed with RA following a nasty respiratory infection during which, all hell broke loose in my joints.

I too, was about 18months old when I was dxed. maybe almost 2 years old. Somewhere in there!I was 8, I dont remember having problems before i was dx but then again i did a ton of gymnastics and was always hurting somewhereI was dx at age 39 but just a couple weeks from 40. That was two years ago and still trying to find the right combo of meds to help.

I had my daughter at 40 and things started acting up a year later.  I was told that having my daughter at my age is what kicked everything in high gear.  I am now on ssdi.  If it wasn't for the pain meds I do not think that i could go on.

Sorry Lin I missed your post.  Yes apparently you can get OA in teens.  Mine started in my jaw.  It was like TMJ then as time went on the joint just seems to vanish.  That's when the cleveland clinic found out it was OA and it was basically eating the joint away.

So I have been tested on and off since then for RA.  Just to make sure I don't have it.  Then boom there it is.  I think they jinxed me and it's all those dang doctors faults.

Age 55, diagnosed 2 months ago, but may have had very mild symptoms for a few years.  Was diagnosed with hypothyroid one year before RA.  Oddly (or perhaps not), both autoimmune diseases started when I finally quit smoking.  Hi!  I was just diagnosed in August, and I am 32.  I have been feeling bad for about 5 years, and when I was younger I had a lot of weird problems, like gout and arthritis in my feet, but RA was never thought of, as far as I know.  So, 32 is the answer!  Just dx's 2 months ago at 64.  But having probs for more than a year.  Carpel tunnel surgery 15 years ago.  Who knows...maybe since then.
OA at 25 and RA at 50. (like 2 days ago!)

40 for me.
26 for me!Had issues at 21, dx with ra at 36.  OA at 23, degenerative disc disease at 23 and fibromyalgia at 41, Osteoporosis at 42.  Now have glaucoma, cushings syndrome from steroids, unhealing fracture in foot since Easter, and borderline diabetic from steroids.  Heaps of fun!!!

Hi Chris, I was about 25 when they diagnosed me with the Fibro, and 52 when they diagnosed me with RA.  God Bless

Dotti51diagnosed at 51.  Since 45 had problems w/feet and hips.  Had to stop speed-walking and then had bad sciatica, and foot surgery for bunions.  Thought it all had to do with getting older.  When my hands swelled up and clawed and I could not even hold a pencil, I thought HMMMM, this might be something serious.  Took about 2 weeks to diagnose.TTT38
