1st pain management visit tomorrow | Arthritis Information

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well! I am sorry I've been away a bit and haven't replied to any posts. Things have been up and down, depending on the day. I've been in a lot of pain, as well as dealing with a lot of depression and what I'm guessing is anxiety. I've had this constant internal uneasiness for quite awhile now, that nothing seems to make go away for any length of time. Cymbalta definately isn't helping. I'm going to a pain managment doctor tomorrow for the first time. I can't handle the pain anymore and don't feel like I'm getting any relief with my current regimine (methotrexate, lyrica, mobic). I feel sad all the time, but not because of circumstances of life or anything (on the outside things are great - I am happily married, have a wonderful little boy, have great friends, have my own company that is flourishing......). It's like something is wrong internally that I can't really explain. I guess that's what depression is, eh? I don't feel depressed "about" anything, just a pervasive sadness. We just got back from a Disney cruise and I even felt it then. What's up with that? I hope each and every one of you is doing well. I look forward to hearing how you guys are. If anyone is feeling lousy, please post about it....you're certainly not alone. Love and hugs to all my RA friends, J JuliahRA39366.7309027778*hugs* I'm so glad you recognise the depression. That can be the hardest part! Do get it taken care of! It really just is part of all this garbage. Icky, eh?? I hope the pain management works out! I think for the most part, most people here have a good record with them. Good luck!!! Keep us posted.Glad to see you back Juliah.  Depression and anxiety are so difficult to deal with when a person doesn't have RA.  Having them on top of it is really tough!

I hope you find relief soon.  I have had to try AD's and go off of them until I found something that worked.

glad to hear from you julia i hope everything works out

great for you at your pain management doctor, just so you can get

a little relief. hope you had some fun on your cruise.

hope you have a pain free day for a change..

But with the help of anti depressants and pain meds, you can begin to accept these things, and even find joy in your life again. Hopefully your new doctor will be able to help you through this rough period. I hope the people in your life are giving you the support that you need and deserve. That certainly does make life easier.

I didn't have good results with Cymbalta, either. It certainly didn't help with the pain, as it advertises. Nor did it help the depression, at all. There are many antidepressants available. The pain doc should help you find one that makes a difference for you. I'm taking Effexor XR, now, and it helps a lot. I've been on many others over the years and sometimes you just build up a tolerance to them. But, remember, there are always others, if one doesn't work.

Good luck at the doctor tomorrow, Sweetie. I will keep you in my prayers. I hope you really like your doctor and that he/she is able to take care of your pain and depression very quickly. Please let us know how your appointment goes. You know we are always here for you.

Gentle hugs, Nini

Juliah, so good to see you posting.  I can't help you with depression except to tell you to discuss everything with your physician.  Don't leave out any details. Hopefully, pain management will be exactly what you need.  Take it easy tomorrow and let us know how the appt. went.  Lindy

Juliah, I have been so worried about you.  Tried to PM you and your box was full.  Yep, depression is a big part.  I just switched after being on a very low dose of Zoloft.  I am on Effexor, and I do like it better and I am truely back closer to myself.  Effexor also has the added benefit of blocking the dopamine channels.  So, some of the pain is masked.

I wish you well at the pain clinic, but try to find an antidepressant that will truely help you, because I think the depression can surely hold us back from responding well to the meds.

Lots of love and prayers, and I am almost jealous about your Disney cruise.  Shelly

Hi again, Juliah. Just wondering if you had your appointment yet. You have been on my mind today.

Please let us know what the pain specialist says and if you get a new anti-depressant and pain meds.

Hope all is well!

hugs, Nini

I am interested in an update too!
