Rheumy Appt & Marathon Training | Arthritis Information

I've had a lot of problems lately with my knees so I made an earlier appt with my rheumy.  I had my guns loaded because I thought he would tell me to stop or slow down my walking but he surprised me.

He said that it was good for me to walk and the marathon training was terrific and he would encourage all his RA patients to exercise, even if they can only manage a little.

He said I am not an RA person but a person with RA.  Yes I am a person and yes I have RA but RA is not who I am.

I wasn't happy nor surprised that I'm back on pred starting at 40mg a day and working my way down for the next 6 weeks and then staying on 5mg until I see him which is in 6.5 weeks; however, it will help me to stay active.  So starting tomorrow, I'll start taking the pills and be extra deligent about what I eat.  I am just so happy I get to keep walking.  YIPPEE!!!

Take Care everyone and while I know it's hard, don't let RA be who you are.  RA may win some battles but don't let it win the war.

I hope you don't think I'm preaching, I'm just trying to encourage everyone to do the things they have always loved, even if you can't do it for as long as you use to.

Cris, that's spoken like a CHAMP!!  Now I feel like a quitter by giving up my business, but I just have to remember it's just opening up another door for me and I have to accept it.

Everytime you step out that door to take that walk just say that you're "doing for you because you're worth it."

Take care,

Mina
