Hi to everyone. I have a question that i probably know the answer to but need a second opinion. I had lots of little lumps on my leg that i scratched, they bled and scabbed over and then it disappeared.( this is on my outer ankle) Today hubby and I have been out shopping and that area after a week of being clear is inflammed, hot and throbbing the area above my ankle is a little swollen too. Should I see how it goes or should i see my doc? I was just worried as i have just had the diagnosis for possible Vasculitis. ols this be related.

Thanks everyone

Lisa, I would go in, and if it is nothing than you have the peace of mind.  If it is SOMETHING...then you need to work on quick treatment.  Be careful of infection and trim your nails.  I know it is hard not to scratch, but you cannot risk infection while you are awaiting Embrel.

I totally agree with Shelly.  Trim those nails...wear cotton gloves over your hands if you have to so you don't scratch and get an infection.  Get into the doc.  Nothing should break out and then later on become warm, swollen, and throbbing.  Remember, a lot of skin conditions are auto immune related or caused!!!  Over here in the States...Enbrel has just been approved for psoriasis and other skin conditions.

Yeah, I think a visit to the doc is in order too.  If it were me I'd probably wait and see, but I really think the smart thing to do is let your doctor take a look.  Let us know what he/she says.Get to the doctor.  Sooner than later.  Could be an infection and you don't want it to worsen.  Please keep us posted.  Lindy

Yes, you should see a dr. I don't know your if rash is vasculitis, but I did have various types of rashes when I was dx'd as possible vasculitis. Some were itchy. They always started in the ankle area and often the area looked pink/red. I'd get any rash checked out just as a precaution.

Not trying to steal the thread, but I had something really similar on my neck. It was a bunch of tiny bumps. it was all over the right side of my neck and all the way up under my ear. I was scrathing it one day, and it bled. They are still there, but as bad. It feels like itty bitty pimples.

Could it be vasculitus, since I have no clue what vasculitis is?

Lisa, I most certainly agree that you should see the doc! Are they reddish bumps and raised a little? Those are the ones that my rheumy told me to watch for, as they can indicate vasculitis. If you have already been diagnosed with possible vasculitis, you should go in as soon as you can.

My skin is very thin and fragile. I always have some of the red "old lady" bruises on my arms. Sometimes just a few, and other times my arms are covered. But they are usually much bigger than yours and pretty much flat with the skin instead of raised. My rheumy said it's because of my thin skin, and the Sjogren's causes my skin to dry out, along with mouth and eyes. I've had the tiny ones  but again, they were not raised. Apparently they must be palpable to be vasculitis.

Let us know when you have them checked, okay? And try not to scratch! I know how hard it is not to, when you itch, but you don't want to scar up your skin if you can help it .

Take care, Sweetie

Hugs, Nini

Could this be shingles?  I know when I had it, it was a very similar course of events.  Hope you find out soon and recover quickly, hugs Janie.
