Of course that's no news to me:

So your a druggie every day??I have an aunt who has RA; she gets the most pain relief from marijuana.  Of course, due to the insane "war on drugs", she can't use it; instead, when her pain is severe, she has to turn to opiates.

It ain't right.
Jasmine, I know. I guess it has to be illegal so because you can grow your
own so the pharmaceutical companies don't get their cut. It works really well
for me, too. At least in Canada you can get a prescription so it's not always
illegal. I don't bother because it's not really an issue where I live, but I guess
if Harper gets his way and starts a US style of completely ineffectual "War on
Drugs Not Made By Pharmnaceutical Companies" then I will have to get one.

Some people with MS find it's the ONLY thing that works for them.

It honestly doesn't seem to be a drug company conspiracy... they would like the restrictions lifted as well.  They are not even allowed to research marijuana.

Instead, it seems like another way to keep tight control over citizens - especially ones with little money and/or dark skin.
Jasmine, you could have a point there. I think I get distracted by the irony,
plus we just have a completely different situation in Canada (for now).I used to work at a big pharma... their drug screening process (where they screen tens of thousands of compounds for potential activity against receptor targets, etc) would automatically exclude substances whose structure indicated it might have similarity to opiates, THC, barbiturates, amphetamines, etc.  They did not want the headaches of dealing with the DEA and controlled substances. Do you take narcotics? If so, should I call you a druggie? Because MJ is
illegal, it makes it worse than Morphine? MJ and MS or both products of
nature. I have never seen anyone rehab from MJ abuse. I cannot say the
same about MS. Or any of the others for that matter. Please be careful
when passing judgement about anyone that smokes or eats MJ. Maybe you
should tell everyone on here that they are druggies because they take
Vicodin.   We give Marinol all the time in the hospital setting...oh, but wait a
min, that is made by big Pharma....so its ok to take that. Give me a break
6t5.Well Lorster right or wrong ,here in the US until someone changes it MJ is Illegal. She lives in Canada. Not sure about there but probably illegal. You have never heard the term " Druggie " before. Refers to those who use Illegal drugs. I was asking if she did, but it appears now that she does. Glad it helps her, but I wonder about long term use? Are you her spokesman? So Lorster It's OK to break laws cause you think it's OK. Not being a smartass but wondering where you might draw the line?It is legal in 8 states. The supreme court shut us down after we voted it in
for medical use. I have never tried it, but I plan to before I die. What does it
matter if it is legal or illegal? It all goes into the body, gets into the liver and
affects each of us in different ways. It is none of your business, and vice
versa, what we choose to put into our bodies. Cigarettes and alcohol have
more documented deaths than from some of the illegal stuff. What gives
here 6t5? Speeding is not legal either but I'm sure even you do it everyday.
Please don't preach good citizen to me. I'm a rebel and will remain one. I
was good for way too long. Gimpy, I meant to ask this before, but I remember from my high school and college days, that we got incredibly silly, hungry and just sat around and did nothing when we smoked. Maybe you're retired and don't have to work, but based on what I remember, I couldn't drive or function at work. Maybe you don't smoke enough to get stoned and the above side effects. So how much do you have to smoke to get the pain relief and how long does the relief last? Seems like this was on the news recently, maybe just the local news, about how much relief the chronically ill people got and how hard it was to get.OK Lorster. So heroin, Meth etc anything is OK since it's nobodys business correct?Lori, the best part of a forum is the ignore button.  Pot was legal in Alaska for almost all my adult life.  It's illegal now.  What a shame, cheap pain relief.  Ninil, I just have one to 3 tokes later in the evening. It doesn't take much for
relief, and the munchies become more controllable over time. Actually,
eating MJ provides a lot more relief but it's slower acting. I think people with
really serious illness probably use more than I do.

I am sooooo not retired! But I actually don't find my ability to get stuff done
is that impaired by MJ use. (I know chronic heavy users who are real go-
getters, too). It's probably about on par with being on a Percocet or
something. I never drive or operate machinery when on this drug, though.

Just like any other drug, or substance put into your body, EVERYONE is going to react differently. Some people get loopy as all get up and can't do crap on MJ. And others, find they are more clear minded, levl headed and have more ability to think and function when they are on it. I had a friend in college who I thought was a totall druggie. Smoked a joint with each meal. And somehow he had 800 times more energy than I did. He told me a story about how he was almost thrown in jail in MIDDLE SCHOOL because he was so out of control. He had nightmares with his eyes open, and would freak out. He said it felt like his mind was always going 100 miles an hour, and he could never keep up with it. They tried everything, and diagnosed him with all kinds of wrong diseases. Someone told him to try pot. If it wasn't for his 3 joints a day, he wouldn't be able to function. It sounds insane, but believe me. He ran out of it one day, and it was all we could do to keep him in his room and calm. Let alone go to class, make a meal, or hold a conversation. As soon as we got him more, he was calm again. He cried once he was settled down, and I had never seen him do that before. He hated everything that came along with whatever was wrong with him. The one thing on earth that helped him be a normal person, people hated him for. And it was so sad.

My views have TOTALLY changed since I met him. There is good somewhere in that drug, and I wish we could get it out and use it, and not be called "druggies" for it.

[QUOTE=6t5frlane] OK Lorster. So heroin, Meth etc anything is OK since it's

I see no medicinal value in Meth 6t5. We are talking about drugs that people
can benefit from. And I'm not talking about psychological dependence, I'm
talking about people who are chronically hurting and nauseated. MJ helps
them and it should be legal.    I think it is ok for most of it to be illegal.   But
POT? come on. Lets give that up and put our tax payer money to better
use. Most employers have pretty good drug screening programs for their
employees so people who are employed generally tow the mark or they don't
have a job, something most of us need to keep going. There are systems in
place out there that help control these substances. Lets just legalize pot
and be done with it. Gimpy, is pot legal in Canada? Or approved for medicinal use? I'm not sure
if you had mentioned that before and I apoligize if you have.
