OT: IDK....Blood in Urine | Arthritis Information

Ok, so now I am scared.  I have increasing pain, and will get a spinal series...and thought ok that will be the end, right.  Well, I went to the Urologist today for IC, and she comes in and says...hmmm you have a significant amt. of blood in your urine.  HUH?  The we talked about the fact that I am hurting more and I told her that I am still uncontrolled for all intents and purposes.  She said...well, we are going to cathaterize you in a week and get a sterile sample.  I am just a little bit concerned with this.   OK ENOUGH!  I am going to get Doctor Phobia, worse than I already have it.

So, I am peraniod and I realize this, but I am thinking hopefully that it is a simple kidney infection???? Maybe, but I am wondering with the back pain, and all if it is just another manifestation of this wonderful disease.  I said that to hubby tonight, and he said, "I guess to me it is all connected and the way it is".....well, then I lost it.  He is not supposed to give in to my wainings!!!  He is supposed to be large and in charge...darn him!!!   Well, he said...ok...you had a crappy day teaching and now this, and you are in pain.  I am taking care of dinner, and you are laying down with your puppy.  YES!!!  I guess I have to count the blessings...little ones as they may be.

Sorry to vent, but if this has happend to you and I have nothing to worry about please tell me I am stupid!  If you don't, then be honest.

could you have a UTI?  Sorry your hurting Shelly....um yea and dont have to much fun getting catheterized...hopefully they can get to the bottom of itSounds like a nasty kidney infection. You can have a "significant" amount of blood in your urine without ever seeing it. And the back pain you talk about sounds just like it too. Just hang in there, if that's what it is you'll be much better off once they give you some antibiotics. *hugs* Geez Shelly.  what next??  I think their are probably a lot of things that could cause the blood.  If your doctor were super worried, he wouldn't wait a week to get the next sample. There was no evidence of a UTI, because they always do the screening for that.  I don't feel like it is a UTI either.  She did say to keep an eye out for other things, like fever.  Don't have one.  I don't know...I just don't know. You could have a kidney stone that's stuck?

Oh...thanks Katie! But that's better than not knowing! And lots of people get them, so you'll be okay. *hugs*

Yea, I know you just want me to be ok, and I appreciate that.

Hey Shelly, so sorry you're having such a hard time, this just stinks!
