Things that make us sick??? | Arthritis Information

This one's a good one.....

I know there's a lot of different views on here as far as chemicals and cleaning, what's really clean what's not, etc etc.

Justin and I recently decided to try the Lysol Nutra Air automatic sprayer thing-a-ma-jig. Here it is: http://www.lysol.com/solutionsfinder_na.shtml#article6_4

Anywho.......since we got it, I've been sneezing A LOT. Every day, all day long. I tell this to Justin who just says we should move it into another room. Psshhh. Then who starts sneezing this morning? JUSTIN!

AND THE CATS!!

So what the hell? Isn't this stuff supposed to be helping us? Why are we all so sneezy now? Are we just sensitive or what? I have a constant runny nose and I can't wait to get home and rip that damn thing off the wall!!!

I have one too, and I am very picky what I put in there, b/c I can sneeze my head off and send DD into an asthma attack.  Be careful with this, b/c you don't need to get sick.  Do you have it set on the 35 min.?.

Take it down...that is an easy fix.

I don't think any of these things are safe and we don't use them. When DD was in grade school she wanted those ones you plugged into the wall outlet. She always closed her door so the smell was really concentrated. After a couple months some of the plastic and rubber toys in her room started to disentegrate, I mean truned into goop. I got rid of them, told her you don't know what this is doing to your lungs. I do have it set to the 36 min. Doesn't seem to do us any good. :(I've used Glade plug-ins ("lilac spring") off and on for years... with two cats, two kids, and a hedgehog, things can get rather fragrant around this house.  I also have one of the automatic sparyer-thingies in the back foyer/stairwell.  The shoes and the catbox are simply too much... I need to overpower it with artificial lavender scent.

I've never had anything disintegrate in the various rooms where these devices reside; I've not noticed any difference in allergies or disease state when I let the things run out and forget to refill them (sometimes for almost a month).  I think the catbox ammonia from living with two 100% indoor cats is probably more harmful than a poof of propane and essential fragrance oils/esters.

Mom has one of those Hepa air cleaner machines to reduce allergens and junk in the air. I clean the filter out as directed each month and the air is really clean and it takes care of odors....( elderly people sometimes get odory!) *wink* I sometimes buy one of the plugin thingies...forget which kind, it smells good and is not too strong.

Good luck...an air freshener isn't worth the sneezing that is for sure!

LOL I've used candles, glade plug-ins, oust spray, pot pourri, lysol spay, fabreeze, essential oils on cotton balls in the vents, you name it, I've used it, still do. No one around here has any sensetivities to scents that I know of. No problems as far as we can tell
