Help Request! | Arthritis Information

Hi there, I hope its ok to post this here. I am a 5th year Product Design Engineering student, in my final year at university. For my final year project I am intending to design a product to help people with Arthritis. I want to design something which would be of use to people, so I would love to know what you think would be a useful area for me to look into. For example:

What are the main problems from your point of view?

Is there something you already own which could be improved?

Is there an everyday item which is hard to use?

Is there anything you find difficult to do?

Is there a product you would like to see available which does not currently exist?!

Any help you could give me is very much appreciated, so thanks very much in advance!

What are the main problems from your point of view?
Packaging, from the simple shrink-wrap type to more complex heat-sealed packages are obviously designed by engineers with strong, supple hands and wrists for people with strong, supple wrists. Try opening a any package with two fingers of your left hand and one of your right.
Is there something you already own which could be improved?
Can openers, vegetable peelers, coffee makers, cups, glasses, ovenware, toothbrushes, dental floss, bed sheets, doors, windows, vacuums, brooms, brushes, computer keyboards/mice, and chairs!
Is there an everyday item which is hard to use?
Not too be too specific: toilet tissue.
Is there anything you find difficult to do?
ADL
Is there a product you would like to see available which does not currently exist?
A set of alternative shoe strings that are easy to use and work as intended.

To engineering successes! Happ
