SOME OF YOU KNOW I WAS AT ER FEW WEEKS AGO FOR BLOODY STOOLS AND ABDOMINAL PAIN ....DIAGNOSED WITH ULCER FROM YEARS OF NSAID USE.  I ALSO MENTIONED TO DR MY RA AND EXTREME FATIGUE.  HE SUGGESTED CORTISOL TEST.  TWO WEEKS LATER, JUST GOT RESULTS...ABNORMALLY LOW....AND BEING REFERRED TO ENDOCRINOLOGIST.  SAID POSSIBLY ADDISON'S DISEASE.  SOMEONE ON BOARD HAS THIS.   CAN I GET MORE INFO.   MANY HERE ARE DEALING WITH EXTREME FATIGUE LIKE I AM...I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU GETTING THIS TEST AS WELL!   WORTH CHECKING OUT.  I JUST DIDN'T THINK THIS WAS RA....I COULD NOT FUNCTION ANYMORE AND STARTED TAKING PROVIGIL.  KarenNTx38583.6226388889
Wow Karen. I have not heard of that test before. It's
great he sent you to the right doctor and you were
able to be tested. I'm definately going to check into it
too.

Don't know anything about addison's disease. keep
us posted on what you find out.

i'M NOT ON PREDNISONE AND HAVEN'T FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT HEARD THAT ADREANAL INSUFFICIENCY CAN CAUSE EXTREME FATIGUE.  THE ER DR RECOMMENDED I TAKE THE TEST AND WALA......THAT'S MY PROBLEM.  SAYS COULD BE ADDISON'S DISEASE.   LOOKED UP SOME INFO....ALSO COULD BE PITUITARY TUMOR  (MY GRANDMOTHER HAD THAT!!)  LITTLE NERVOUS JUST WANT TO FIND OUT SOME ANSWERS AND GET TO FEELING BETTER.Karen,  You have had so many tough times!!!!   I hope everything works out and a new diagnosis only means you will get better treatment and your life will improve.  I will be think ing of you.  I am so tired the last couple days, I barely can convey my thoughts but I am sending you good vibes and a big hug.

You have had so much going on.

Sheila

Yikes!! Just when you think that maybe there is a sort of simple solution something else happens. I'd be very interested in hearing the follow up.

Fatigue has been the bane of my existance for longer than I can remember.

ADVICE TO ALL IN EXTREME FATIGUE OR HAVE USED PREDNISONE IN THE PAST.......GET A CORTISOL TEST!!!!!OMG Karen, I see my Rd on Wed. I am definately going to ask him about this test.  I have had so much fatigue lately, my hubby doesn't understand how I can sleep so much, horrible pain in my head, stiff neck, etc. oh and of course low grade fever that won't go away.

I'm also having a colonoscopy on Sept. 1 because my colon is dialated on the right side for some reason.  Why do things have to be complicated?

Mina

Oh to have autoimmune diseases.

I also have had extreme fatigue.  It took two years but they finally dx'd me with Hashimoto's disease which is an autoimmune disease that kills the thyroid.  Apparently it's all part of the cycle.  I have also been on meds for IBS, another autoimmune issue.  I'm being retested now to see if the thyroid isn't acting up again.  Hopefully not.  I think it's just the RA and I get fevers also like Mina.  Sometimes I can run a fever for a month.  Pred makes it go away.  Try not to worry.  I saw an endocrinologist for years and she let me graduate recently and now my internest sees to my needs.  I hope all works out well for you and keep us posted.
