I was wondering do fronts moving in your area affect your RA..make you stiff and sore? A drop in the barometric pressure just about kills me and I was wondering if I was the only one......I love this forum..I have learned so much.
Delenaj Hi Delenaj, I don't find there is a connecction between my RA and the weather. The only thing that happens to me is during colder times of the year, I notice the raynauds acting up. Kelly ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every time the weather is getting ready to change in Chicago, my joints start to ache terribly, especiallly if it is going to storm. I just experienced it Wed. It was very pleasant and the temp was about 78. Then all of a sudden the humidity shot up, and so did my pain. I was feeling so bad after work all I could do was go home and crawl into bed. Humidity is very bad on me, of course extreme cold is too. Trust me your not alone in this!!! Shawnie Yes big swings of the barometer hurtShawnie, im in chicago too! I felt horrible all week until it finally rained the other day, now im starting to feel better. I totally understand where you guys are coming from.Ditto! I can feel changes in the weather before they get here. We are like little barometers- whenever there is a change my body senses it. If the weather is getting warmer I will be less achey- when it is going to rain my feet and fingers "feel" it. Dampness or humidity both can make me achey. And I live in one of the rainiest cities .......Seattle.Here is what i posted back when this topic came up about a month ago... Hey... i say that we (and anyone with major joint problems) are human barometers.. *SCIENCE TEACHER COMES OUT IN ME* We have air pressure all around us. The pressure outside of our bodies pushing inwards is luckily virtually the same as the pressure pushing out from inside our bodies. If the pressure inside was way more, we would explode (like in outer space) and if pressure was way higer outside than in, we would be crushed (like in THe Core under ground). When storms come in, there is a low pressure system with it. Lower pressure means less air above you pushing down, therefore more room for your body to push outwards. Thus we tend to swell and swelling mean joint pain. The low pressure usually effects the area we are in about 24 hours before the actual weather arrives. Winter tends to have more low pressure days that nice brigth sunny high pressure days, so combine that with cold temps, and WINTER SUCKS FOR RA PEOPLE! The summer time seems to have (expecially lately) many more sunny high presure days.. higher pressure, less room for the body to expand.. not as much swelling. WIth the warmer temps it makes a good combination for us. *ACK TEACHER MODE OFF.... IM ON VACATION!!!!* Yes the pressure and temps affect me.. warm is better that cold, but i hate HOT HOT weather! Hope this helps.. science lesson over. I have 3 more days of vacation.... soon ill be teacher mode all the time!!! Hope this sheds some light.... Laters I'm completely affected by the weather. I should have been a meteorologist! Food and hormones never affected me too mcuh. Though too much sugar seems to stiffen my hands a wee bit, but no major flare. Foods don't seem to affect me either.
Delenja I also suffer when the Barometer drops. I have always been linked to the weather. I from New England so it can get pretty bad in the wintertime. I soooooooo hate the winter, I wish it to pass quickly every year. No matter what the weather I am usually in pain but spring I love. Problem is dont really get a spring in New England, usually goes right into summer or winter. Well hope I helped, just remember you are sooooooooo not alone. OH, in case you are wondering I am 38 yrs old. Hope to talk to you soon.Since I am still kind of new to RA myself I haven't seen any connections so far but my Mom used to definately be able to predict the weather with her RA. She was more accurate then the weatherman! She could tell if it was going to rain or if a cold spell was coming.yes yes yes cold front makes my bones ache, heat/humidity makes me swell and sharp pain in knees, feet and hips I truly believe I can predict the weather, my flares all winter coincided with a storm coming in. WHEW! Thanks for your input...I thought I was freaking out for a while there...no really, I knew it wasn't in my head! I am so glad that I am not alone!
Soft Hugs, Delena ![]() Hugs, Mina Yup, Weather definately affects me. Humid days are not too great and I feel the rain coming for sure... After January .. forget it, I need warmth and sunshine. Where do you guys get all the really cool pictures from, Brenda yours is just hilarious. You guys really make me laugh. thanks for that Jackie Mee too ... meee tooo.. I can tell when it is going to rain like a day or two before it rains. I get stiffer, and all achy!! I hate it! Jealousy - Glad to see ya postin'!! I have been wondering where you "wondered" off to ![]() ![]() ![]() yes, the weather affects me too. the humidity makes me all achy, but it's the cold that really gets to me. the cold is the worst for me. stress makes me hurt alot, too. I guess it affects everyone differently. Linda |
