Pain Meds | Arthritis Information

Ok... so... I asked for Vicodin, and RD said that was the same as LorTab. What is the next level of pain med if the lortab 2.5/500 does not keep me from getting paranoid?

i am thinking i might ask for Combunox. It is oxycodone with IBU. most of my pain is from swelling. so the ibu would help me out.

pain meds that have acetaminophen do not seem to help so well and does nothing for my swelling.

OMG! One of the adverse events for taking Combunox is 1% flatulance LMAO!

I take Vicodin 750. I do not think it works on pain that great. And it makes me constipated

I take Percocet 10/650 they are pretty potent.... they make my pain bearable.

Oh and take the meds before the pain gets too bad.  Once its taken hold it will take several doses to get rid of

good 2 know i not the only one who gets paranoid on lortabs

i am not a loony loon after all

I don't know if I'd go so far as saying that!!!

actually I think it all stems from our tolerance of the codeine.  darvocet is enough to make a bit loopy..like a glass of wine

lortab/vicodin is like a couple of shots of whiskey..we became mean drunks

and percocet knocks us out.  I do wonder now that I'm more tolerant to percocet if my reaction to the vicoden would change

Hummm... I ain't no mean drunk,

Anything knocks me out apparently

Maybe you should experiment for us about if you would be more tolerant of percocet if the reaction to vicodin changed. Sounds like a good science project for one of our kids

Good luck Matthew and thx Joonie for the "heads up".

when i originally went to the er they gave me a butt shot of diluadid and the crazy thing was it knocked me out sufficiently ( i was so high it was ridiculous, i am sensitive to pain meds, that when the nurse asked me to rate my pain i replied (cross eyed from what i hear) that it only moved when i hurt it, to which she laughed said that meant i was not in pain and discharged me) and i thought i was going to claw my face off.  i scratched my face  raw afterwards and still even though i was unconscious still woke up frequently in pain and sratching.  when i took the pills i had no change in my pain, i just felt high as a kite and itchy.  so i 86ed the dilaudid.  from what i hear its a pretty potent drug.  maybe that would work for you! no more morphine dilaudud or narcotics for me if i can manage it!

i know its sounds counterintuitive but do you think a muscle relaxer would help?  idk those things are fairly strong and make your whole body kind of limp and for lack of a better descriptor relaxed.  ya think that might help some of the pain?
erica334739380.935162037Oh yeah, muscle relaxers really help me and I take them at bedtime so I can sleep and not toss and turn all night.I am already on a musle relaxer I take up to 3 times a day. Robaxin... my GP's Nurse Practioner said that was the strongest muscle relaxer she could RX me, and for something more she would need to get my GP to RX it for me. So... I am guessing it is a pretty good muscle relaxer, because when I asked my RD for refills she looked at me crazy when I told her 750mg 4 times a day. She said we will just let you take it 3 times a day at most. So... muscle relaxer helps my neck/upperback/ shoulder area that gets soo stiff & tense. It does not really help with anything else. Just theat area I mentioned and makes me sleepy.
