A halloween warning for pet lovers OT | Arthritis Information

Yesterday I heard a horrible story and I didn't realize that these types of
things went on. My daughters friend lost their black cat a few Halloweens
ago. Someone had doused him with gas and set him on fire. They found
him running across their front lawn and he finally collapsed and died. This
is something that I cannot understand. How could anyone do this to an
animal?   Please keep your pets indoors this halloween especially the black
cats. That's horrible! < =text/>_popupControl(); We always hear stories like this around Halloween and it is horrible how people can treat animals.

Fortunately we have no outside pets.  Our trick or treat hours are pretty strict and we have extra police patrols.  But someone always ends up with smashed pumpkins or destroyed decorations.  It's a real shame that happens.  Makes me wonder what parent's are teaching or really not teaching kids these days.

I guess this is the dark side of the Halloween season.  People use stray animals, or out door pets, for occult rituals.  Our police dept.  warns the community about that this time every year.

Can't we punish people that would be cruel to a poor animal.  I mean gosh, that is awful.  My puppies are indoor puppies, and they will not go out much, b/c people are at the door.  I wish our patrols were more inclined to do some drive by's, b/c there is always some sort of destruction of property.

< =text/>_popupControl(); The laws are getting stricter regarding cruelty to animals and it is about time too.  We watch Animal Planet and watch Animal Cops Detroit and the other shows like that one.  It just breaks my heart to see what people do to animals.  Don't own one if you can't afford it or don't know how to take care of it.  I have never understood how people can be cruel to animals.  I love all the ones we have especially my doggie doodle.  He is just my buddy and I couldn't imagine treating him cruelly.  He would never be cruel to me that's for dang sure!!!

Good Housekeeping had a whole page of Heloise suggestions for you if you get Halloween pranks. A whole page of where to park your car, what to clean up first, how to prank proof your property. This all seems so backward to me. And setting a cat on fire? Halloween isn't scary, it's what someone thinks is an appropriate Halloween prank that's scarey. Ninilchicken39380.5741203704Oh It's sickening. I had a black cat (he died two years ago) and I always kept him inside for like the week before Halloween for just that reason. I also know that our two local shelters won't let people adopt the black cats two weeks before Halloween and up until Halloween because people get them and use them as party "props" or torture them for the Halloween "celebration". Honestly, I hate Halloween. I do it though, get my kids costumes, give out candy and all but I hate it. I think it's ghoulish and silly. I'd much rather decorate for Thanksgiving and Christmas.MEOW??!!! I guess I am gonna lock up our solid black kitty..and her grey tabby sis on halloween. They are so friendly that anyone could catch them. I guess I should put my little garden statues in the garage too..since we wont be home that night. We dont give out candy cuz we are always out doing our own trick or treating. I didnt realize people could be so mean just cuz it is a black cat!
