RF test ? | Arthritis Information

my first rf test in 2006 was 141. just had the test again 1 year later it's 197 I've been on mtx  pred. and sulfasalazine for a year ,should my numbers go up?         &nb sp;         &nb sp;         &nb sp;        thanks

My RF was 706 when I started AP.  I've been hovering around 260 for a couple of blood draws and my doc added Zith to bring it down into 'remission'.

Your question is something I've wondered about.  Don't people on the traditional meds have their numbers go down?  Anybody?  I know I've seen that posted many times before.

pip what is Zith? my doctor also said my crp was high 9.1 and thats a sign of infection.A year ago it was 2.9.I can't figure out why I feel better now than a year ago and my numbers go up.I mean I know the meds made me  feel better. guess I don't understand the numbers.

                                                                                thankks

I don't understand your numbers.  I've seen a lot of posts that people's numbers have come down but they feel bad.  You're posting the exact opposite - you feel better but your numbers are up.  I'm confused, which is why I asked people on the traditional meds to jump in here.

I'm on AP (the Antibiotic Protocol).  AP docs are always pulling labs to see if we're heading into remission.  I think my CRP was 15.8 in the beginning - but it's normal now.  I'd be 'in remission' if I get my RF down again - that the last marker for me.

Zith is Zithromax.  I think its in the pennicillian family; but don't quote that me on that.  It's one of the antibiotics used to hit the strep mycoplasma because the tetracyclines don't touch that one.  Minocin is the antibiotic used usually for RA on AP.

Your doc says the CRP is a sign of infection?  Like now?  Do you feel like you're 'sick'?

Did he pull your liver enzymes?  They tend to rise with an infection.  I'd call and ask to have your labs faxed to you.  Something seems wrong here...but I don't know what.  Not trying to scare you, I'm just confused.

Pip

no I don't feel sick other than my RA stiffness and pain. But he did do liver test it was pos. for hep A and neg for Igm.Still waiting for them to call  me back.CRP can be elevated with infection, but it's also elevated with inflammation which is why my RD runs this occasionally.  Maybe you have some mild on-going inflammation?relief, got my call back from doc. I don't have hep.A I was around someone who recieved the shot for it or who may have had it is what he said. soooo much bull---- from these doctors anymore, how can we stay free of stress .           ;           ;           ;     thanks everyonei asked my PCP about crp and he said that while it isnt specific for any one thing in general it shows that you may have a virus or been fighting off infection and maybe not even know it.  i guess with an AI disorder you immune system  working overtime an inflammation marker being high is fairly common right?  two of my bff's are RNs and when i got the call for my blood work results since they arent specialists they just said that crp and the like being elevated makes them  suspect you have or will have an AI disorder...i guess the pooled results of your labs let them know whats going on in there rather than saying yup youre sick you have this or that.  idk though i'm still learning myself.  bc to me if you throw lab results at me im like uh ok now what.  i have no idea how to interpret these things!

i know in my most recent blood work i had elv sed rate, crp, ana, RF and strongly pos ccp...guess when you match that with that frisky pain in my joints you can better guess (LOL) whats going on
