Just wondering for those with little ones, what are your kids dressing up as for halloween? My daughter is gonna be little red riding hood and my son is going to be a mad scientist...complete with green wig and black framed glasses. Someone asked me what I was going to be..."a mom, same as last year!"We were going to get Kelsays costume today but plans changed and im not sure if we are gonna be around for halloween.   She wanted to be a bat but my creative level was very close to zero this week.  We'll see though........

A flying type bat? or a baseball type bat?

Don't kick me for that. I'm serious.

the flying type...Making one is REALLY easy, just take a black umbrella, and take the metal parts out and cut it in half and sew (or safety pin for the easy way) to a black hoodie. and vawlla (ok thats totally not the right spelling)...a bat...then make it look like a bat w/ antennas etc yep thats it.  My neice wants to be a jack-in-the-box....not sure if shes gonna end up that but i thought that would be really cute.
OMG so Kelsay was a bumble bee i think her 1st halloween, its a 12/24month size...So i had a bright idea to see if it would fit the dog.....OMG that was the funniest thing i had ever done...yea she didnt like me to much afterwards.....it woulda looked cute though had she let me actually put it on herMy son will be 4 on the 30th. We are still into the little kid costumes.
Not the bloody, scarey stuff yet.

He had been telling me for weeks that he wanted to be a dinosaur. I
looked around for a costume and the only one I liked was a bit expensive.
Before I bought it I asked him if he was sure he wanted to be a dinosaur.
He said yes. I then asked him why. He proceeded to tell me that he
wanted to walk around the neighborhood and roar at the little kids. That
way they would give him their candy. I told him that I would not take a
mean dinosaur Trick-or-Treating. He then looked at me and stomped his
foot. Then he said "Fine! Then I'll just be a bumblebee!"

HUH? How did he make that jump? So, Bumblebee it is! He is now very
excited about his costume. It is pretty darn cute. His daycare center
goes trick or treating at a retirerment complex during the day. It is right
behind their building. They have been doing it for years-the residents
love it. Of course I love it as well. That means two loads of candy for
mom to sort through. Bring on the Reese's!!

LOl Dinosaur to bumblebee.....sure, why not. LOL

I was a mouse one year. My mom did the whole costume herself, and it was GREAT. She never made a costume again. Hahahahaha It was far too much work. I've been a popple (remember popples??) before, and we bought that costume. But mostly we'd "make up" our own. Like I was a baby once, and we just did a pillow case diaper and did pig tails and a pacifier from a friend. LOL And I've been gypsy, that one was fun we went to thrift stores and got everything for it REALLY cheap. For the year I was a vampire all I had to buy was a cape and fangs, that was fun too. And I've been a witch, I think all we bought for that one was the hat!

Now that I'm not a kid anymore, I buy costumes. You know I just can't help it.

Morning Ladies....we don't get any kiddie monsters cause we live across street from a cemetary, very large one....and I guess the kids are too chicken to be near it at nite...no tricksters in 4 yrs at this home!!!....(more candy for me!LOL)>>

She wants to be a vampire because if she holds her lips 'just so' it looks like she has fangs.  LOL

Today is her schools big Halloween Day so the kids can get all dressed up and show off in the Halloween Parade.  Last night somebody got her fingernails and toenails painted black.  When she wakes up this morning we're making her hair straight and black.

Very scary!

Pip

P.S.  Kelseysmommy - A quicker, easier bat costume is - get a all black cape from the store (most are under now) turn the collar in and pin, and take chalk and outline the 'scallops'.  Cut.  Then stitch the ends together about 3 inches at the wrists.  I was done in 5 minutes.

The little one will be a Police officer; the big one will be a vampire.

Well today was "Senior Halloween" at the high school where just members of the senior class get to dress up.  It is a big deal, and pictures of it are included in their yearbook, so ya gotta look good.

My oldest son, Dan,  who is really into theatrical makeup and techniques got up at 5 am and turned Jamie and his best friend into zombies, with rotting skin hanging off of them.  I didn't have to do a thing!!! I was so proud of Dan for offering to do that for his brother and his friend.  I feel very lucky they have such a close relationship.

I can't wait to see all the kids dressed up for Halloween.  It is such a wonderful day, when they can be whatever they want to be.  They can play pretend and dress up, and no one cares.  And they get to see adults acting like children too!  When we adults can show kids our "inner child" they get so excited.

Thankfully, my youngest out grew it finally.  We never really celebrated it much anyway.  They lost interest in it about 3 years ago.

Kelsay... a bat, that made me chuckle, what an inventive mummy you are re the costume.

We dont make such a big thing of it in the UK. I was in texas a few years ago for Xmas and NY and just loved the OTT xmas lights. I've been on a mission ever since. Its such fun... painful on the electric bill though!

My grandson is going to be a banana. He's only 9 months old. But he will be the best banana ever!

OHHHH a baby banana!! that sounds so adorable! I hope you all will post pictures after halloween! I will put some pics up of my little deamons and their buddies.

We always load up in the truck to trick or treat-guys in the cab of the truck, girls in the bed of the truck with blankets and booze, and the kids walk from house to house-stopping to dump their goody bags everytime they get too heavy into a big bag we keep in the truck. One year we filled an entire ice chest full of candy off of the two of them. That was oct of 2001- she was 4 and was Miss America, he was about 18mos old and dressed as a farmer in denim overalls, a straw hat and rubber boots. He was so freakin cute! He would run up to the doors a shout "TWEET!!" people gave them both handfuls of candy at a time.

Our other tradition is that when we get home, and the kids go to bed, me and dh dump all the candy out on the floor and examine and sort it....and have a mini candy binge fest! < =text/>_popupControl();

Well, we had our trick or treating yesterday.  Danielle went as a Homecoming Queen.  Arielle went to her friends house and passed out candy with her.  Since we live on the 2nd floor, no one really comes to our door lol.  Danielle surprisingly got a whole lot of candy with only having 2 hours to do trick or treating.  Of course my prednisone behind has raided it already lol.

My six year-old is going to be a black Power Ranger. (Yes, they are still around. LOL) I can't remember the exact name; it's really long and complicated. The baby is going to be a froggy we picked up at a yard sale for . Looks good as new! He's cute as heck when he crawls around in it, too.

I'm thinking the hubby and I might dress up as nerds or switch roles. He'd look so cute in a dress...
