Hello, I am 45 years old and a full-time working mother of 5 children with a disabled husband (he has muscular dystrophy).  I was diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis a couple of years ago and to me it has only gotten worse.  X-rays reveal that the cartliage behind both of my knees is wearing out.  My primary care physician said that could be why my knees are stiff all the time making it difficult to walk without assistance.  My orthopedic doctor has me doing PT to build strength but to me it is not helping much.  I go back to him in around a week.  Don't know what he will say.  Just curious, will Synsvisc help me with my stiffness?  Thanks

Synvisc helped me tremendously.  I had injections for 2 years prior to a total knee.  I'm getting the other knee injected next month.  This will be the 4th set of injections.  I'm hoping to put off the knee replacement for at least another year.  Synvisc may help you.  You'll only know if you do it.  Welcome to the forum.  LindyHaven't tried it yet, but definately thinking about it! My rt knee is terrible! I have alot of bone erosion, and it's swollen and stiff all the time.

I say go for it and see!

Sorry to say that synvisc has seemed to make my knees flare.  I talked to the doctor and with my history of whole body arthritis that could be the problem, but it seems to have agrivated it more than help.  As Lindy said...you never know until you try it yourself.  I did talk to Lindy and then my step-dad before doing it and both have had great success!  So, maybe it will help put off surgery.

So, go for it and see what it does.

Just came accross the following information on Synvsic.

Edited to add a little more info on Synvsic.
