Doctor fatigue! | Arthritis Information

Hi does anyone else get fed up with seeing 'yet another' doctor! It just seems endless. Eyes, ears, feet, on top of the RD and the medications....just goes on and on. I'm taking a break. Waiting until the next remicade (2 weeks) before I even call the doctor!! LyndaLynda, good idea.  Less is better with medicine.  < =text/>_popupControl();

Yep, there are times I get completely fed up.  Last winter it was my PCP, my RD, my neurologist, and my ortho.  I have whittled myself down to just my PCP and RD for now.  Ortho will come next again once the RA is under control and I can get this dang knee replaced.  There was a point last winter where I was going to throw all my meds in the toilet and flush away!  However, Danny prevailed and calmed me down and talked some sense into me.  If it ends up this winter I turn out as crappy as I did last winter, at least I will be prepared for it emotionally this time.

There are times it is overwhelming.  One thing after the other after the other.  However, do not do yourself any harm by taking a break from your docs.  If you are in pain and it is not being controlled that means there is something going on and you should really check into it.  It is not good to let yourself be in uncontrolled pain physically or emotionally.  Inflammation=pain=damage being done.  I can totally understand where you are coming from, but please, also understand that you do need to take care of yourself.

I'm guessing it must get worse as time goes on.  I only got hit with RA about 9 months ago, and so far only see my RD every 2 months.  I have not been to see my GP since the initial onset, you know, trying to figure out what was going on. So I guess I'm getting a glimpse of my future???Yes, sometimes it sems I am a professional patient!  Can't stand it!

Yep, I have that professional patient look to me too, I hate it.  This week I only have three appts.  One is pleasurable.  Next week I will have three...instead of RD it will be the eye doctor.  More tests to see about the glaucoma and cateracts.

I know how you all feel. I've said before that my job, it seems, is seeing doctors, managing meds, updating my medical records, arranging surgeries, etc.

Currently and regularly I see my PCP, Pain Specialist, Hemotologist, Rheumatologist, Hand Surgeon.

Just had second surgery on l. hand on Friday. I will be having second radiofrequency ablation on c-spine (#6, which they couldn't get to on Oct 4,when I had the first one), on Nov 16. They are also doing some kind of injection on l-spine at the same time. I will be in a cast from hand surgery for 6 weeks.

I don't like this job very much

Note to Linncn: My problems are not all from RA. Don't get depressed. I have a lot of spine problems, OA, etc. So Don't worry! Hopefully you will get the help you need from your RD

Hugs to all, and good-night

Nini

I've been to the docs more times in the last twelve months than I had for the previous 55 years.
Yes, I am getting p'd off with all the appointments plus those for C/Link.
I wouldn't mind so much going if they could just be on time. I can't stand when they put you back in the little room with the ugly painting on the wall for what seems like eons before the dr comes in.I get so fed up with going to doctors!!  I've been known to go on doctor strike and not go anywhere for anyone!  Hi, I'm kind of new here.  I know what  you mean about getting sick of the doctors.  I kept  canceling my appointments, because they didn't do anything for me.  Just took my money and said "see you in 3-4 months.  They started  to get mad about it, and after a while would not renew my prescriptions unless I went in.  Now I try to go and keep my appointments, but they don't seem to know what to do.  I keep complaining about the fatigue.  Last time I didn't even mention it, and my doctor asked, "still feeling fatigued?"  LOL  I thought he wasn't listening! I don't like this job very much . [/QUOTE]

Neither do I. Other's comments about being a professional patient resound loudly in my life at the moment.

Allow me to suggest a {{{{{{GROUP HUG}}}}}.

Wimpy, whiny, and querulous this morning... ... ...
HappI just said a couple of days ago that I was so sick of visiting the dental surgeon and the regular dentist I could puke.  Between the surgeries (tissue graft, bone graft, and implant) and the scheduled follow-ups to check on progress, and the visits to the regular dentist for adjustments to the braces to prepare for the placement of the tooth, I'm at one of their offices every week or two.

Yesterday, when I went to the Rheumy, I asked him to look at two of my fingers which are swollen, red and appear, to this lay person's eye, to have fluid floating around the joint.  He takes a look and says, "Lets send you over to my  coleague, Dr. Whosonfirst".  "He's a fine hand doctor and will give us a clearer picture of what we're looking at".

So, this is now 2 referrals from the Rheumy since I started seeing him in April.  Call me stupid but I thought that a Rheumatologist was clearly supposed to  be able to identify RA symptoms in the hand joints. And yes, I am tired, already, of chasing from specialist to specialist while my clock is ticking away and still no resolution.

Crabby today....sorry.

K.

Hi all, thank you for making me feel 'not so alone'. Strangely, my insurance is starting to pay all of my bill and now I'm fed up with going to doctors.

It's a big, boring pain! Lynda
