DMARDS and cancer link?? | Arthritis Information

Hi there, my sister recently was told by a DR. that DMARDS such as Plaquenil, which I take , "cause cancer." I have researched on theh net, and cannot find anything that supports that. I am aware of the eye problems one has to watch for, and stomach issues, but never heard anything about it being linked to causing cancer. Anyone know anything about that?
Thanks!A few years back, my family doctor told me that there was a link  between plaquenil and lymphoma.  When I saw my RD, I asked  her about that and she then asked who told me that...when I told her my doctor, she said that was nonsense.  I kinda think she was upset  that my doctor told me that since she knows I already worry about the meds I'm taking.  I think I believe my family doctor though.

I've never heard that before and doing a quick search for "Plaq, cancer, link" found nothing either.  I did find references to how Plaq cuts the cancer risk in Lupus.

I think the DMARD's referred to were the biologics - and that is very controversial - whether or not it's the RA or the Biologics that cause the increase in lymphoma.

Since I'm a believer in the Antibiotic Protocol and because antimalarials work on killing a known 'infection' of the malarial spirocette - I'd guess - in my non-medical opinion - you'd be safer from the cancer risk with Plaq.

I know that Minocin has been studied as a cancer 'fighter' recently.

Thanks Pip, I agree, I feel if I am controlled on 400 mg of Plaquenil and 15mg of Mobic and large doses of Fish Oil, and I am doing pretty well, then it beats taking chemo such as MTX or worse!
Thanks for your input.
