mtx and migraine question | Arthritis Information

Hi, there.  I bet this has been discussed previously, but I can't scan through all the pages right now.  I am on my second week of mtx.

During the first week, I developed a very bad migraine, and nausea and vomiting.  Not sure which came first.  Does anyone else here experience those side effects, and if so, do you take migraine medication?  I can feel a headache coming on, and I don't currently take migraine meds.

I have norco, but it doesn't help much at all.  I am not sure what to do!  I don't want a repeat of last week.  I know my dr. will call in anything for me, that's not a problem.  Thanks so much for any help/stories/advice.

Oh yeah, I have phenergan suppositories for the nausea, and they really help!

btm7439386.6081134259Try a marijuana cigarette---it worked for me when I was getting those problems. I think my body is more used to MTX now (plus I am at a much lower dose) because I don't get those problems as often.

BTM74,

When i first started mtx i was sick and had terrible lightening headaches. I thihink that by the 4th or 5th week most of the bad side effects disappeared. I would still watch for bad things. Read your RX warnings again for real bad, call the doctor side effects.

Hi, I get head aches (slight) from mtx, but got 'migranes' from plaquenil? So don't know what to say. Lynda

Thanks to all of you.

Gimpy-I don't think marijuana is right for me at this time, as I am a nursing student...not that there's anything wrong with it...LOL...

But, I am definitely suffering and need some help.  My head is pounding.

Lynda-sorry to hear that the plaq. gave you migraines.  I can't even tell I take the stuff.  So strange how we are all affected in such different ways from our meds.

Take care!
