Good morning to everyone. Sorry i have been away but its been an awful few days here. I started with some really bad headaches that wouldnt go away with pain meds, my vision was blurry.  I have tried to keep up with the posts ( HUBBY HAS BEEN READING THEM TO ME)

First of all thank you for your kind words. Hubby was great posting for me ( he is my treasure). I hope you all had a great halloween. My kids all went to a party and had fun. Hubby handed sweeties out to the trick or treaters ( we had loads this year) I missed it completly and slept through the whole thing. The Dr put me on gabapetin and i have now taken myself off of it. It did weird things to my mind. I dont remember anything and apparently hubby said i was acting out of mind( more so than usual

Katie- Sorry you and justin are having to go through so much at the moment. Please wish him get well soon from everyone in my house.

Karen- I loved the photos, you are all so talented, it must have been fun.

Pammy - your mums necklace looks beautiful.

Nini - I love hummingbirds, i only have the one and we found it in cornwall on holiday, a lady there carves them herself.

I have just had a phone call from Home Care who deliver the enbrel and i will be getting my first lot on monday, I just have to check with my rheumy about taking it with the headaches. My G.P. seems to think that they are caused by a spasm in my neck although it doesnt explain why i am getting pain in my eyes unless it is something seperate.

Thanks again for all my messages and i will try to keep up

HAVE A GREAT DAY

Goodmorning!  Lisa its good to see you posting!  Hope you are feeling better.
Not a whole lot is going on...Kelsay gets her report card today....But she is in Kindergarten so it cant be to bad

Hope everyone has a great day!

Aw kindergarten report cards are the best. I have kept all my kids cards and i love the first ones as they say such sweet things

take care

Lisa, thank you for such a sweet thing to say.  I am trying my best w/ her.  I dont want her to be afraid of death like I was growing up, I have learned to accept it as I have gotten older as I want her to.  Hopefully you can start Enbrel on Monday!  Let us know what the dr says.

Goodmorning.  I am exhausted again.  Remicade on Wednesday and MTX on Thursday night.  Yep, exhaustion.  I have to cancel my message, because I will be late.  I also have to sign Brandon up for some computer graphic art classes for next semester.  The teacher is very impressed with his artistic talent.  Yep, I have been for years!  They should have asked me!

I also have my second counselling appt.  I really need to go to the grocery store, but i don't know about the whole energy thing.  I really just want to crawl back in bed.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day.  I hope it is filled with less pain and more laughs! shel

Hi Pinnie!! So sorry about the headaches!!!  I hope you get better soon!!!  Oh I just feel so badly for you!!!  I hope the Enbrel works for you sweetie and that you get to start it Monday!!!  Your hubby was a darling to read posts to you!!!!  He is for sure a keeper!!  The kids looked great in their costumes!!!  Thank you Mr. Pinnie for being so good to our Pinnie!!!!  You rest and take it easy sweetie and that is an order!!!!  Don’t make me fly across that pond!!!  Well, on second thought, make me!!  I could use a Holiday!!!

Shannon…Kinder report cards are just the best!!  It’s not like you have anything to worry about with Kelsay anyways.  She is an intelligent little girl.  Just like her mommy!!!  You are doing a *great* job with Kelsay and helping her deal with her GG’s passing away.  Like I have said before…you are a superb mom and the right things to say and the right things to do to help Kelsay through this will just flow right from you naturally as they have been doing.  You have each other to get each other through this.  And both of you will get through this.  Just take your time and talk to people when you need to talk.  I am always here for you when you need someone.  Even if it is just someone to listen to you or you just really need a good cry.

Think I might try to go with Danny to CVS today to pick up scripts and to the pet store for bunny chow.  It will all depend on how I feel when I wake back up from a nap in a little bit.  Kids are gone to school and I think I will lie back down for a little while.

I hope everyone has a good day and is as pain free as possible!!!

Pinnie...get some more rest, and warm up a heating pad for that neck.

Liz...how are you feeling?

I dont get to talk food with everyone as I am in bed when you are all talking about the scrumptious stuff

I thought id post a recipe

CRUSTLESS PUMPKIN PIE ( This was so good)

125 gr butter at room temperature, 150gr sugar , 3 eggs, 140gr cake flour, 15ml baking powder, 2ml salt, 400gr peeled and coarsly grated un cooked pumpkin , 5ml vanila essence

use a 1 litre pie dish, spray with non stick cooking spray. cream butter and sugar and eggs together, sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add to egg mixture and mix. Add pumpkin and vanilla essence and mix well. Spoon into pie dish and level off . Bake on middle shelf in oven for 40mins or until done.

My eldest daughter made this to take to Halloween party it was really tasty and my sisters grandaughter who is 2 couldnt stop eating it.

CHEESE AND SAUSAGE LOAF

PASTRY

275GR Plain flour, 20ml baking powder,2ml salt, 125gr butter, 150ml milk.

FILLING

250GR hot dog sausages, 200gr grated cheese,40gr butter, 1 small onion,7ml worcestershire sauce,7ml mustard,1 egg yolk and 25ml milk beaten, fresh chopped parsley.

Preheat oven to 200(centigrade) 400f. Grease baking sheet, sift flour, baking powder and salt. Rub butter into flour mixture with finger tips until well mixed.Add milk gradually cutting it in with spatula. The dough must be fairly stiff. FILLING- Mix hot dog sausages, cheese, butter, onion, worcestshire sauce and mustard well. spread mixture evenly on dough. Roll up like a swiss roll starting at the short end. Place roll on baking sheet and slice it thinly but do not slice all the way through( the base must stay intact)Seperate slices slightly and brush with egg and milk mixture. Bake on middle shelf for 20 mins or until lightly brown. Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot or cold. Its definetly worth it as its yummy.

(((hugs))) Shelly!!!  We must have posted at the same time lol!!  Make sure you get to that counseling appointment.  That is very important.  Even if that is the only thing you accomplish today, you have accomplished something.  Always remember that no matter how small you think an errand is…or whatever…it is still accomplishing something for the day.

I am going to make a post on how I feel because I want to keep it out of the chat thread since I need some ideas from people.  Not everyone reads the chat thread.

Somehow my bowl of cereal performed a miracle and turned into a bowl of Cream of Chicken Soup.  Who the heck has Cream of Chicken soup for breakfast for cheeeeeeeeese sakes!!  I will tell you who!!  Someone on prednisone that’s who!!!

Oh Pinnie….great recipes!!!  YUMMY!!! I gained 5lbs. just reading them!!!

Hi all, art today if I can make the moves to get there, regular blood test AND , watching a movie 'Cher' as an atty. Pretty good actress, and I saw her shows in Reno in the 80's. LyndaLynda- I came off te gabapentin as it had the same effects on me as it did your hubby.Good mid-morning from the Sonoran Abode. There was a spectacular sunrise this morning and the day promises to be temperate.

I send my best wishes for comfort to each of you and hope your roads are smooth and your skies are clear.

Cheers! Happ

ok, Liz, so I made it to the counselling appointment, and we have a treatment plan going over and investigating my emotions instead of the facts of the disease.  She asked me how I am processing what is happening and the loss.  WEll, that was the wrong question.  So, that is our goal.  To get me through the grieving process without losing anything of me.  Which is my fear.  I have lost more of me than I care to this year.  The statement the RD made about my back, just made me shiver inside.  I am a little scared!

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who wants good news?? Surgery on Monday afternoon - he has a "knot" in his small intestines that they're going to have to cut a little out of. We think it's about 2 feet long, but they're pretty sure they can save a lot of it. The psuedo-cyst on his pancreas has doubled in size. It's now pushing on his lungs and stomach. So that's getting drained as well. The big thing we were dealing with was the idea that he might have to have a colostomy bag - and now, as the surgeon says "fat chance, I hate those"

she needs to improve on: holding the pencil the right way (shes a lefty so i dunno how to help that LOL), prints name correctly, attention span, follows directions, works carefully and neatly, works independently, playing/working w/ others, listens attentively, and attempts to solve own problems..

Any suggestions?  We have parent/teacher conferences so we'll see what she says.

Katie, talk about going through the mill! How are you doing, hope you are taking care of yourself too. Its very easy to go onto automatic pilot when caring for your other half.

Hoping the surgery and recovery go well.

Can I go bad to bed yet? I mean I woke up SUPER swelled and stiff, I think that would be a good thing if I were a guy

Body parts are still swelled, but not hurting and I do not feel weighted down. Which is a good thing.

Update on Remicade... Boo... hisss....

I called... today to check status of PA and well, turns out they had to submit some more information. Yes... even after I told the lady Tuesday to make sure they sent everything in and she said the PA lady does this all the time and was sure she got it right the fisrt time. Nope, not true.

So, they cancled my appt for Nov. 6th, and are suppose to call me back to reschedule me when they get the PA authorized. Yeah, looks like I will be calling again next friday to see if it was PAed and to get another remicade appt.

Oh well... at least Imuran is working on my swelling. I really did not want to pay for to get the Remicade anyways. My medicaid is cut off this month, because hubby gets paid 3 times this month. Not that he is getting more money, just that it looks like he is. So... they cut me off. Now I have to pay BC/BS co-pays for my meds this month, which is going to be more than the I pay for all my meds, probably more like close to .

Ok... I am done "venting".

Shannon- I am a lefty and the best way to help shannon is to sit opposite her as then your right will be opposite her left . My mum taught me to knit like this when iwas younger. The only way for her to improve all her skills is going to be with growing and learning. Practice neat work with her and let her solve things around the house on her own with minimum guidence, praise her lots for her achievements. My son had motor skills problems when he was in knidergarten, we did lots of things to help him.( practice skipping, balancing a ball on head, catching and throwing a ball etc).

Katie, this is good news, and I am very, very pleased.  Sounds like he has a great doctor.  Sure hope this is the fix he needed.  Get that boy fixed!

What is the cause of the pseudo cyst?  Can that be removed, instead of just being drained?  Will it come back again? Why is it called a pseudo cyst?   Inquiring minds want to know!

Poor Justin, having his inner most parts discussed here by all of us.

Seriously, I hope he feels much better by this time next week!

Well, I am glad to hear Justin is going to be fine and it is not nothing more like was thought. I hope he recovers fast and feels better after all that is took care of.

Hugs to you both.

Removing it is HIGHLY dangerous, as you can leak the fluids into the body cavity and cause a massive infection. You also usually have to wait about 6 weeks after it starts forming for the wall of it to thicken enough to endure surgery.

Anything else I can answer?

Do you know what numbers I should use for my lottery ticket this week?

 LOL
Thanks answer girl!

Katie!!!  I'm gald to hear something going Justin's way.  But, how do you get a knot in your intestines?  Is he a contortionist or something?

Shannon, I think Kelsay's report card sounds fine.  Just pratice those things suggested by the teacher, but really I think most of those things come with age and maturity.  You have a bright little girl there, but you don't need someone to tell you that, do you???

Yeah Katie! That is good news

Hey Karen

Katie~glad for the good news.  I am glad that it is better than we expected.

Mo~glad to see you up and around

Jaz~I just came on and saw the equivalency for pi, and I was wondering what was said...funny lady!

Karen~yep, nothing like a piping hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream!

Hi Link...how are you?

Hey Shelly!  How's it goin'?

Tired and more painful than I thought it would be, but I think we are in for our weekend bruising(weather wise).  I think I am going to take a nap before hubby gets home.  I really need one!

Thanks for asking.

Have a good sleep
Hillhoney wanted lucky numbers.

Kelly, we can be geeks together!!!
Do you go to Star War's conventions in costume?  Or do you have a Pocket Suduku game?
Nope (that's nerdy)... and yep (that's geeky).
Hey..........I'd go to a Star Wars convention in a costume. Even a Star Trek one!

Kelly, we can be geeks together!!!
Silly little Katie... I go to ACS (American Chemical Society) conventions for my vacations!!!  You just need a periodic table T-shirt (I have about 8).  It's like going to college, only without final exams and humanities courses!!!  Oh, and I'm now old enough to legally have a beer or two. www.thinkgeek.com ?Oh..Jas is the nerd.  I'll have to take a look back and see why Was so tired and ready for bed last night. Layed back to smother my self in lotion. Put a bunch on my face. LOL still had my glasses on. Smeared lotion all over them. Didn't hurt anything i just thought it was funny.
www.thinkgeek.com ?
I have a few shirts and blankets (Pi and Binary) from there... it's one of my favorite stores.  They have awesome stuff!!!  We had great fun in the office with the .99 "Annoy-a-tron".  It's a very small circuit board that makes random, annoying electronic beeps.  And it has a magnet.
Oh..Jas is the nerd.  I'll have to take a look back and see why

My bronchitis is still with me though not as painful..just cough cough cough

Milly do you ever "look" for your glasses and realize you're wearing them...I do

I'm so glad Jasmine is a brainy geek

Define "dork"
so whos the dork then?
I think that slot is open.  Are you volunteering?

That'd be Karen then, look at her avatar.

Shannon, you can be the dork. But then, we'll also have to fill the slot of the "spaz" I think Joonie might have that one covered...

Ooh and what about "dweeb"

I'll aways be "the princess"

Link can be the dweeb!

Fun tonight??? heck yeah!!! I'm talking to you guys!
Anyone doing anything fun tonight?
It's Friday night... which, in my house, is a Nintendo holiday.  The boys are eating pizza and killing each other right now. Hey Mo!!!!  I will admit to being a nerd or even a dork.  But a dweeb I am NOT.Jas....you forgot one.  Airhead.

And I say Gale is the suck-up....
...burnout
I am quite melted, broken, and otherwise unusable! although I REALLY wanted to be the hooka smoking caterpillar.

*gasp* Hooka Smoking Caterpillar!!! I love you Happ. Have you ANY idea my facination/sick obession with Alice in Wonderland????

Ok Katie I'll be the "air headed princess"

I have erm... 4 or 5 copies of the book, and Through the Looking Glass. And A bookshelf absolutely PACKED with collectibles. You name it, I've just about got it!! I think I'm up to 8 or 9 Alice purses, and 5 or 6 shirts as well. Oh and undies....LOL

Have you ever read Alice Through The Needle's Eye? Its by Greg Adair, and it's terrific! It's almost like he was friends with Charles and knew how his brain worked! His writing is sooo similar!
Jas....you forgot one.  Airhead. Ya know....just throwin' it out there..
So how weird would it be if I asked someone to chop my feet off? I mean, just for now. We can totally put them back on later. I just don't want my feet right now. Ya know....just throwin' it out there..
Ya know, when the story came on the news earlier this year about the teen girl who had her feet chopped off on the amusement park ride... the first thing that popped into my head was "how did she get so damn lucky."See! You understand where I'm going with this! Matter of fact, you can just take them from the knee down at this point. Really don't need 'em...
See! You understand where I'm going with this! Matter of fact, you can just take them from the knee down at this point. Really don't need 'em...
A friend of mine had his foot amputated earlier this year due to poor healing after a horrible car accident.  Now he's got a wicked cool prosthetic leg... it has a Harley Davidson eagle/American flag design.

I would get one covered in molecules and equations.
So how weird would it be...
Pretty weird, but all-together understandable.

How about a warm paraffin soak for your feet and legs, accompanied by cup of hot Jasmine tea, a scone and some peach and cherry marmalade instead?Well now I'm drooling. LOLThe Mad Hatter's tea party!I've always wanted to have a mad hatter tea party un-birthday one year. Still hasn't happened, but I know it will! One day!!!Isn't it funny that as long as it's just wishing, you would wish for them gone instead of better??LOL Yeah, that's true Link. I think you just get SOOO fed up with them, you can't even stand to have them. Even if they are better. Cause you'd still be mad at them for giving you such hell anyway!! LOL
I've always wanted to have a mad hatter tea party un-birthday one year. Still hasn't happened, but I know it will! One day!!!
"Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!
"Up above the world you fly,
Like a tea-tray in the sky.
                      Twinkle, twinkle--"

Link, I hope those days are over for you too! For good!! Now I wish I could catch up with you!!

You will katie.  Soon, I hope. I wish I could share it with everyone.

My family is Scotch-Irish, I've never had high tea, crumpets, or clotted creamEvening folks!Oh mona! You're missing out!!! I wish I could remember the place.....but there was this AWESOME antique like...warehouse that we used to go to. And the owners had turned one of the sheds into a tea house - and I do mean SHED. It was so cool! There were about 4 TINY tables, and we'd cram in there every time we went. And I'd always get the tomato and cheese sandwich, and then tea and some KICK ASS cheese scones, and then we'd try some dessert. They always had the most amazing cakes and pies that I'd never seen anywhere else.Once again, I'm sure I'm going to be the odd man out, but clotted cream sounds totally disgusting! LOLI've got some bad news... my lottery ticket is not a winner.   I bought one on a whim on Saturday when I put gas in the car, and I forgot to check it until just now.  Oh well, another dollar down the drain...
..., I've never had high tea, crumpets, or clotted cream...
You poor dear! I am sure our English friends understands that real clotted cream cannot be had in the USA, but a resonable facsimile can be created with practice and crumpets, while requiring finesse, can be made with panache.

Comfort food.LOL Hi Gale! Did you hear that you've been deemed the new "suck-up" of the group?

Katie all I'm saying is I'm deprived
Once again, I'm sure I'm going to be the odd man out, but clotted cream sounds totally disgusting! LOL
it makes me gag just reading those words!! Ewww!!!

Yea clotted cream makes me think of baby puke

I asked Pinnie one time what it really was but she didn't tell me

Katie...what the heck ya mean I'm the new 'suck-up' of the group!

Happ, my mom snagged a WONDERFUL recipe for scones, and she does it soo so well! I can't wait till this christmas, I'm going to demand that she make some for me!
Sorry happ, still sounds disgusting! LOL

Katie...what the heck ya mean I'm the new 'suck-up' of the group!
...and just a great on scones! *LOL#Forget suck-up, I want to be known as Goddess Gale! The burn out needs to go straighten the kitchen up, so until next time~~~Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call

Forget it Gale, goddesses aren't real, they're fake! Once a princess always a princess!

Gale and Mona- then I'm the effing red queen. How 'bout THEM apples?

Gale told you!

I wannna smoke some peace pipe

Okay ladies, I'm outie for a few. Gotta make my way home! I'll be on later for a bit-ski-poo I'm sure!

Sounds like a good book to me Gale, anything about a princess is interesting

Did you have any trick or treaters? If I did I wasn't here to see them.

We rarely get many trick-or-treaters. I'm always afraid of not buying enough candy, thinking that we might get overwhelmed...but in the 13 years we've lived in this house, this was our biggest year...and we only had three. LOL

BTW - I stopped off at CVS Pharmacy on the way home from work to fill a prescription, and they had all of their halloween candy 50% off. So the idiot that I am, I bought 10 bags of candy corn and 10 boxes of pumpkin peeps. What the HECK was I thinking???

I never get here in time to really get into the "evening wackies"

If clotted cream is like home-made whipped cream, then YUM. If it is what it sounds like...YUCKY! Orange and cherry marmalade sounds wonderful!! I'm still trying to figure out how you can get a 'curd" out of a lemon

I'm sorry I miss this most of the time. You guys are great fun! I'll check back in later..I only have one typing hand for a while and get frustrated that it takes so long to write anything.

Hugs to you all

Nini

Hi Nini and Karen! I'm here...just trying to get caught up on today's posts, and am trying to figure out why some people are trying to moderate an un-moderated board.
