FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS I'VE HAD AN ON AND OFF PROBLEM WITH MY NECK. IT'S PAINFULL IF I TRY TO TURN MY HEAD TO THE LEFT.

ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY PROBLEM LIKE THIS???

                                DONN

Donn- ive been having the same problesm this past week too.  I wasnt sure if it was the RA or cause its been nice enough we've been sleeping with the windows open and no airconditionar.   But for me it hurts do turn it both sides....Hope you feel better!!

Shannon

DONN...YES!!!  Mine has never gone away but is not as bad as some days - stretches DO help....I also have one of those "tempurapedic" pillows - feels good at least!

Donn,  In the beginning when I would flare, it was always in my neck.  I couldn't turn it to the left.  WHAT A PAIN IN THE NECK!

LOL Roxy - "what a pain in the neck"

Yup, it seems to be quite common.  I get it from time to time too.  Sleeping in a comfortable position with a good pillow usually helps me.

Jackie

I get it from time to time too. It's so aggrevating because it makes it's so hard to function!!

Little advice here...just wanted to jump and as say you're far from alone.

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK LADIES. NOW I DON'T FEEL THE THE "LONE RANGER"   LOL

Donn, try and make sure that you sleep with neck support so the muscles have a chance to rest. So if it is muscular you should get some relief.  But then again, it might ra and as Roxy says "what a pain in the neck."

Take care,
Mina

I hate the neck 'thing'. At least when it's the foot or knee thing you can stay off of it. No way to take your head off your neck!

Anyway I wrap a heated rice pack around the back of my neck, and try to rest some of the weight of my head on it. (That's a lot of fun in Phoenix when it is 110 outside and I've got hot flashes.) But it does help some with the stiffness.

HEY MARIAN,

MY WIFE, MY RA AND I ARE MOVING TO MESA. I'LL HAVE TO TRY WHAT YOU DO FOR A SORE NECK. (NO WORRIES ABOUT HOT FLASHES WITH ME) HEH!

I was actually wondering about this myself. This was one of the very first signs of RA that I had. My meds have helped my pain in other places but my neck is always very stiff. I can hardly turn my head without having to turn my whole body. I have tried moving my pillow down a little so I would have more support when I sleep but this has not helped none. I think I will try two pillows for extra support. Yup my left side, the joint just below the head on top of the neck....ouch!..Geoff I actually have some advice that I think may help your neck problems.  I bought this pillow from the chiropractor.  It is stuffed with I think nut hulls that are crushed.  It totally conforms to your neck when you sleep or just relax.  It gives me relief every time.  It is like a splint in a way.  I hope you guys try it.  I won't lay down without it now.  Now I cannot even use normal pillows.  HOpe this helps.
