I am wondering how frequent some of you are experienceing flares.  So far, and I am new at this, my flares are few and far between.  By flares, I mean reddness and-or swelling.  I just have mostly achiness and tired a lot of the time-- especially in the early afternoons I just have to take my hour nap.  How does it work for you? lucky you - wish I could say that my symptoms are so limited - pain, stiffness, inflamation, are an everyday occurence 24/7- however, one gets used to it -  I was actually delighted when I was diagnosed with RA - eighteen years ago because I had been so worried I had MS - and with four kids under 7, I was terrified of dying before they were raised- so it is all relevant - I appreciate that my youngest is now 20 and I learned how to cope - best advice I have is to take advantage of your time between major flareups and be as active as you can for as long as you can - finding it hard now just because I am wore out from the longevity of the disease, and complications from it - especially from long term drug use -Hi Westvanlady, welcome to the board! I live in Vancouver, so we're neighbours. What kind of drugs have you been on, I'm curious to know. Hi, I am just recovering from the worst flare you can believe. It has taken since March for me to feel like my meds are working. I've had 'small ' flares , several every year, but nothing like this one. I hope your meds work to stop any flares. A nap in the afternoon is very important to me, and I still feel tired, but I think it is just the RA in general. Good luck with all of this, is is complicated.Lynda
