Sleep number bed for RA | Arthritis Information

I was reading the posts a week or so ago and there was a poster who had a sleep number bed. She loved it .
My husband and I tried one out and decided to buy one.  I forgot who it was.

I toss and turn at night because I sleep on my side and I toss back and forth because my hips start to hurt and my shoulders too. So, I toss to take the pressure off.

During the demonstration the pressure was taken off my sides as I went down to number 35. It really felt good but I don't know if it would last all night. It is so hard to teach myself to sleep on my back

If you have a sleep number bed,  could you post and let me know if you are happy that you bought it?? And what number are you?
I don't have one, but I wanted to suggest that you "invest" one night in a hotel that has one, so you can try it for a full night's sleep before you buy it.  I thought they sounded good, but I ended up staying at a hotel a few years ago that had one and I didn't like it at all.Hi, we have had foam mattresses for years. They have a softer foam cover on the top. I know how badly your hips can feel without the right mattress. I hope others who own one can respond. Lynda

We invested in the adjustable king size and I think it was worth the more than ,000 we paid for it.

I spend a lot of time in bed in the evenings watching TV so the adjustable was worth the extra it cost. The adjustable is almost twice what a regular one would be.

I do sleep all night now. I use to get up several times a night but now I sleep all night and don't even get up to go to the bathroom. To me that proves I'm sleeping harder.

I do feel better too the last couple of months. I'm not 100% sold it's the bed that's done it.....but I can't prove it isn't that either. It's a proven fact that if we sleep better we feel better. That is extra important for those of us with RA.

I say do what Innerglow suggested. I can't remember which hotel has them; but it would be worth a trial run in a hotel to see if you like it. They are expensive but it comes with a 20 warrenty. (SP?) In my opinion it's about the best money you can spend. Where else can you put the money where you'll appreciate it every night for the next 20 years? I can't really think of any.

Good Luck.

I have a sleep number bed that we purchased in 2000 and I still LOVE it!  We purchased it when my husband had back surgery, and it literally changed my life.  Until then I wasn't sleeping through the night, and would wake up hurting so badly I couldn't turn over.  I used to wish I didn't have to sleep, because it hurt so much!  With this bed I sleep so well, I love sleeping - perhaps a little too much!

Ours didn't cost nearly as much as Lovie's; we just have a queen with dual controls, so my hubby and I can each have the sleep number set to the level we prefer.

My husband and I are both heavy, and most mattresses break down and get lumpy

Hope that helps!

Sorry, should have mentioned the chain...they have the sleep number beds at Radisson hotels.  There may be other hotels that have them, but I'm not sure which.

I so need a new bed and I want one of those sleep numbers my bed is horrible.  Its to hard and my body is to old. (LOL)    I sleep at 35 or 45 and find that works very well for my hips.  I do not wake up with pain like I use to and I sleep better.  meme I stayed alone at the hotel (business trip), but I'm almost 99.9% positive that it was adjustable on both sides.

I look forward to hearing how you and your husband feel about your new bed!  I hope you love it as much as we do.

We got a queensize about 6yrs ago for 00 I didn't think that was a bad price and it has dual control.  meme

Ps We even bought Rachel a twin comfort select mattress too.

I'll have to look back at my paper work and see exactly what we paid for it. We did get a mattress cover, two pillows and a set of sheets as well. They were high; but I'm not sure exactly how much they were.

We got the one that's below the top of the lien I think. It wasn't the most expensive one that regulates your body temp. My husband really wanted that one but passed because it was already expensive enough. We bought the mattress cover because the guy said it was suppoed to regulate body temps (My husband sweats a lot at night) but I don't think it works that good.....at least my husband claims it doesn't.

Also; ours is a king that adjust all at the same time. The one that has seperate sides that adjust has a split down the middle like two twin beds. We didn't want that. It also has a massage feature that we didn't know we were getting. I would pass on that if it would have saved us some money. It's so noisy it rocks the whole house from upstairs. Sounds like a plane is about to take off. I don't like it. Only turned it on a couple of times and didn't use it long even then.
