Been sick | Arthritis Information

Ok... since friday morning... I have been nausous (sp) and just not hungry.

I think I am going thru withdrawls. Either pain med withdrawls, sugar withdrawls, or it could be from where I took all my meds on an empty stomach one morning. It was that morning I was hurting so bad, and could not open my med bottles.

I have not been taking much of my meds. Just Imuran and Prednisone. I am afraid to take the muscle relaxer & pain meds. I took them for 2 weeks straight and now I am sick. I drink something I vomit. I am afraid to eat something. I ate chicken noodle soup, EWW chicken! I HATE chicken. And kept it down, but felt very sick for a while after. I felt like my sugar was low, I felt jittery and weak and it just was not good.

I am a bit better today. Have kept stuff down, but I have horrid gas. I keep burping even on an empty stomach. It is just the pits.

Well... I am going to go lay back down. Just wanted to check in.

Sorry you're feeling so bad Joonie, some of the stuff I took when I had my mega flare had to be taken with food, seems like pred was one of them. Can you keep down toast, or yogurt? I took the pred with yogurt. Hope you find out about the Remicade soon.

Joonie, I am so sorry you are nor feeling well! Do you really think it was your meds that made you sick? Boy, I hope not. That would be the pits, for the drugs that are supposed to make you feel better to do that to you.

Have you spoken to the doctor? I'm not very up-to date on the posts here, so I may have missed it, if you did. It seems like you haven't felt very well for a long time. Hope you start getting better real soon.

Get some rest and check back in with us when you feel up to it.

Hugs, Nini

Maybe you just have the stomach flu?Dear Joonie, so sorry. I hope you sort out the meds and get back on track. Feel better soon. LyndaI would try a little yogurt also. At least it taste great if you don't have the flu it might make you feel better. If it is a virus then dairy won't agree with you. I am praying for you. I want you to feel better. When i was on the high dose pred i had a yogurt before bed every night also it seemed to settled my tummy to help me sleeep. And it was yummy. Strawberrybanana.

Sorry you feel so bad, Joonie. I know how you feel. Last week I had the same thing. It was coming out both ends. Do you have the hershey squirts? TMI LOL! Good news is, if it's the stomach flu, it is usually gone in 24 hours. Crackers work best for me. I eat crackers to try to feel better and 7up.

I hope you feel better sooon!

Thanks for the replies y'all

No, I do not think it is the stomach flu. But it could be... I have also been very cold and then a few mins of heat I would be so hot I would be sweating and my face would feel very hot, like all the blood went to my face.

No one else in the house has been sick.

Not sure what it was. I am still quissie, but have kept stuff down and felt like eating and did eat.

No, no new news on the Remicade. Still postponed until I get all the Prior Approvals authorized. So... maybe sometime next month for Remicade.

At least the Imuran has been working. Not much swelling, but lots of snap, crackles, and pops. My hip has not hurt since going to the ER and getting them 2 shots in the bootay. But my right left is still twitching and I am starting to get the hard knot feel in my upper right thigh again.

Well... I hope to catch up on everyone later this week. I should be feeling a little better, as I am going to do the pred flare tapper... which starts out at 30mg. I need to clean the house, as a couple of weeks from now my brother will be down to visit. And I do not want hubby or anyone else have to do clean the house, because of me not being able to do it. I should be able to do it, with all the less swelling I have, but it kills my right leg & hip to bend over or stand long. If it ain't my knee it is ALWAYS something else!

Welp, night guys.

Hope everyone is doing fairly well, if not hope next week a better week for you. You're not supposed to take meds like that for 2 weeks straight and then stop cold turkey. says thats why you're sick. You have to KEEP taking those meds. And yes, taking them on an empty stomach will also probably make you feel sick. So if the last dose of those you took, was on an empty stomach, and then you basically stopped them cold turkey, well yeah. You're gonna feel like hell. So keep taking them, and don't stop. And if you can't get to a meal when you take them, try to wait a few minutes until you can get some food.I went through vicodin withdrawal once, after taking it 'round the clock for 3 weeks straight for a back injury.  The pain was not going away, so I went to a chiropractor as a last resort.  My back pain was totally fixed, and I stopped taking the vicodin cold-turkey.  LOL did I feel like crapola the next morning!!!  At first I thought it was the stomach flu, but I called my dr. and he told me it was probably mild opiate withdrawal.  He told me to take two to four vicodin a day for the next couple of days (I had been taking 8 per day for the injury) as needed, in order to wean off of it.  I did, and it worked.

See... that is why I did not want to take pain meds. Like I know how to use them

I was taking the Lortab 2.5 1-4 times a day for almost 2 weeks straight. Then after I went to the ER and got those shots, I did not need them anymore, until a day later when the shots wore off. I took a Darvocet because I only had 2 2.5 Lortabs left. I had a whole new bottle of Lortab 10's but I only took one of those and did not like how they made me feel, I took that one the morning before I went to the ER.

I am feeling much better now. I still feel a little nausous, but have kept what I ate tonight down.

Hubby said I also had mood swings. I just realized I did have them. As evident by one of my posts a few days back. Since then I have been crying for "no reason" and then a few hours later I would be cracking mean jokes about hubby to him.

Oh well... I hope to never feel like this again.

I really did think I was going thru sugar withdrawals

Take Care.
Ugh, don't drink coke when you're pukey Joonie.  Bad idea!  Also, I hate those "nobody loves me" moods.
Bite your tongue!  Coca-cola (NOT diet Coke, NOT pepsi

Joonie! sorry you feel so bad hun...sure hope you get straightened out soon

Hope today is going better, Joonie.

Here is my 'what to drink when you feel pukey' advice:  Don't drink it if you can't see through it.  Carbonation helps me, too, but skip Coke and go for ginger ale or Sprite.  Apple juice, yes; orange juice, no.  Tea, yes; coffee, no.  Etc.  Pick the most see-through version of whatever sound appealing!  Take care.

My mom used to give me also mint tea for and upset stomach or when i was pregnant i was always sick to my stomach and carried a bag of peppermint candy in my pocket it did help me anyways.Coca-cola syrup is often perscribed for chronic nausea.

Hey Joon....

I hope you feel better sooner than later! I'm sending you a great big hug!!!!

I sure hope you are feeling better.  Its really awful to be so nauseous and have the chills on top of it.

Just a guess, but at the low dosage you were taking of pain meds and only 3 or 4 a day, its hard to see how you could be going through withdrawal.  I have stopped taking them after a couple of weeks and had no problems at all, especially at your dosage, I was on much higher.

I know you are deathly afraid of pain meds and sometimes we can talk ourselves into having what we believe might happen.  If you need the pain meds take them, you are more than likely not physically dependent after that short a time and just feeling really bad.

Good luck and I hope you feel better real soon.
