I've been on Pacquenil for 4 months.  I was told that this drug would  strengthen the immune system.

No bad side effects but there are times that my fingers and toes are numb and lets not go into the aches and pains.

I was told this pain is from arthritis (not osteo or rhematoid).  I guess I wonder why I take it.

I would love to know if someone has this condition and how they are using this drug.

I'm new here.  Hope I'm doing this right.

Hi Antoinette and welcome. Have you asked your physician why Plaquenil was prescribed? I know that it can sometimes be difficult to obtain easy to understand answers from doctors, but it is important that we do understand why certain medicines are prescribed, the predicted course of treatment and possible side effects.

I take Plaquenil as a DMARD-disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug-. Regular eye examinations are recommended for those of us who take Plaquenil and I have found the ophthalmologist to be a great source of information re: Sjogren's Syndrome.

Do you use wetting agents for your eyes and toothpaste and mouthwash formulated for dry mouth?

Cheers, Happ
