Have been so cold | Arthritis Information

Feel pretty good today. Pain is under control. I have been totally freezing for two or three days. I am finally warm after putting the heat up to high. And then this solution makes me tired. The whole day dressed warm and had to stay under the covers. I do not feel sick had a sniffle. Feel pretty good. Maybe it is vascular? No ciculation or something. Or just a virus. Or just RA? Any suggestions. Should i take a tylonol? I am stumped.

Get under your blanket and have a cup of Chamomile tea.  Or actually any tea that is not caffinated.

Or get in the shower and dress inside the shower.

Or get a fat lazy Basset Hound to snuggle up with.  They really throw off a lot of heat.Have you taken your temp?  RA can cause you to run a low-grade fever.  If you're a bit fevered, then a couple of tylenols will help bring it down and make you more comfortable.  And it's cheaper than heating the whole house. Ahhh...I have a not so fat Basset Hound named  "Johan Sebastian Bach's-alot." We call him Sebastian. Sweet baby but very stubborn!!! Awww, Blessed, aren't Bassets great loveable dogs?  Ours is named Blue and she is such a stubborn but snuggely sweetie, we just love her like crazy.I know Linncn...Sab is just a love muffin. I could just eat him up! I know tylonol would be cheaper. I have such a malady of inside plumming problems. I have extemely high cholestorol and last flare my liver ensymes were strangely elevated. They strangely went back down. Once you here the words fatty liver it's hard not to be careful. Well all the cipro for so long i don't want to over load the liver. You can get toxic levels of cipro. I know i lean toward parinoid side but i have my reasons. I did have carbon monoxide poisoning last flare also. Well the cholesterol never went back down. I am such the Drama queen. The carbon monoxide was cause the tornadoe a few month before slung bricks into my furnace. And another year no flare but had a nieghbor set the apartment building on fire at 4 a.m. I had three teenagers sleeping at my house that night we had to jump out a secound story window. And then hit by a tornadoe 4 months later. Different tornadoe not the carbon monoxide poisoning one. You would think after all of that i wouldn't be afraid of a couple of tylonol. I wouldn't if not for all the cipro and other meds. Not venting just a drama queen. Thinking maybe a big gas bill for hopefully just a few more days and will be off the cipro. New livers are expensive also.

Sorry, freezing isn't good, I hope you get to the bottom of it.Lynda

A few weeks ago I bought some micro fiber fleece sheets for my daughter. She absolutely loves them - says they're very cozyOH yeah I have an electic blanket and a space heater. Space heaters are great for when you have a person like me and then one like my husband who sweats when it is 30 below.  I just put it right under my blanket. Probably not the smartest thing to do...haha. No but really I make sure the fan is clear. and of course when I get up I don't leave it there.

I have a cordisone shot in my foot because of a neuroma. Afterwards I felt better all over! I figured it was a inflamation? So, we never know what's making us feel the way we feel.

I was going to mention the electric throw blanket too. I LOVE mine and also use a heating pad alot as well. I get cold very easily and it's so hard to warm up.

I have Raynards Syndrome also so my hands are constantly cold. That drives me crazy in the winter especially.

Freeze Queen weighing in on this subject.

Owiemom:  I, too, have a normal body temp of 97.6 and have the same problem at the doc when I know I have a low grade temp and they think its perfectly normal.

Milly: I've always been a freeze baby but have been experiencing chills in my lower extremities for a couple of months now that just don't feel "normal".  I have to wear long underwear along with layers of clothing just to feel half-way comfy when I go outside.  I live in Minnesota, so thats considered pretty normal here this time of year anyway.

My last CBC showed that I'm slightly anemic which is a common side effect of those with inflammatory RA and chills are a symptom (along with many others) of anemia. Just something to ponder if you haven't had any bloodwork in a while. You can google 'anemia rheumatoid arthritis' to get more info on this.

Meantime, I keep those elect. blankets, top and bottom, fired up and ready whenever I get that cold, cold feelin'.

This will be my first winter with RA.  Can't wait to see whats gonna happen with my chills when the temps are 20 below.
