Question on Arava and Metho | Arthritis Information

When i first was diagnosed with RA I was started on Metho then I was having problems with it so he switched me to Arava, which is kinda the same thing.  Know fastforward a couple of years I stared to flare really bad where it wasnt going away so i go back to doc and he told me to take my arava and then he started me back on Metho I  was taking both at the same times I was on that for a few months and then that is when I  got pnemonia and my left lung had  collapsed Well what do you think

At the time I was on Remicade, Arava,Metho, Lodine, plaquenil, pred and they gave me that purple inhailer thing i forgot what its called.

Would it drop my immune system that low and i was working in a public place with lots of older people coming through all the time.

WOW...you sure were on a lot of meds all at one time...I don't know what to think.

Don't quote me for SURE on this....but I'm pretty sure MTX can cause lung problems. So that may have been the trigger for all your issues. And then of course, being on so many meds and already having pneumonia would just make it worse.

I see your med list that you're on now, how are you doing on those?

Im doing okay I have been hurting a bit doc says its because it takes about 3 months for the Orencia to get totally in my system for the full effect.  my uncle gave me this rubbing alcohol with MJ in it and Im not sure if i want to use it he swears that it helps ive tried all his other homes remedies so just not sure but i guess trying wont hurt.  He swears that it works and my grandma used to use it I think she used to smoke it also (LOL)

Hi, you have a wonderful sense of humor and the 'alcohol with MJ, " does sound like one of my family's home remedies. like you say, it cant hurt. 'she used to smoke it also'

I'm adding Arava (low dose) to my Humira today.  My doctor strongly recommended that I get a pneumonia vaccine injection, which I did last Thurs.  I felt a bit feverish and achey Frid and Sat but was fine by yesterday.  The vaccine lasts 5 years and is considered low risk (not a live vaccine).  The vaccine is recommended for anyone over 65 and for people with immune system diseases.

Yeah I tried to get the pneumonia vaccine but they would not let me since I had such a bad case of it in July  and im not fully healed just yet so they didnt want me to have another play date with the hopital.
