Physio -opening my eyes to RA!!! | Arthritis Information

HI guys, I have been having some physio on my elbows and my right fractured foot.  The foot is showing healing but the physio said he can feel the nerves in my feet are problematic, it really is nerve pain but I thought it was coming from my degenerative disc disease in my spine, as I am getting pain in my buttocks and legs and feet, numbness in left foot!!  Also he checked other areas and said that the tendons, nerves and ligaments are all inflamed due to the RA and fibromyalgia, God this disease is never ending and a constant surprise, my joints have been playing up, Thank God I will be starting my Orencia sometime in the next 2 weeks, the nurse from the company phoned me and told me she is organising everything and is trying to get me inot Hervey Bay hospital for the infusion, rather than travelling to the sunshine coast, also after the first five, she is going to arrange the infusions for home - excellent - Please God, I can tolerate it with no scary side effects!  My physio said he agrees with my GP, I need physio everyday on different parts of my body. (who can afford that)?  My ribs are very painful and he said as well as costochondritis, there are small joints in the ribs as well that can become inflamed, but my facet joints are all inflamed on my CT scan and I have mostly air in the spinal discs instead of fluid??????  I really am glad I am not a horse or they would have taken me out the back and shot me long ago, LOL.  Love Janie.

Janie, I am so sorry.  Stay with the Pysio as long as possible.  It does help some.  You sound very much like me, and the new stuff I am dealing with as well.  I am so sorry!  I wish things were different for you, and you didn't have to go through all of this.

Take care of yourself and I can't wait to see the difference with the Orencia!

Thanks Shelly, you always write the kindest posts and I can always rely on you for a reply, thankyou form me - when you say I sound very much like you, do you mean we have the same types of problems, is it RA with you, what do you take?  I would be interested in knowing more about your treatment and how long you have had the disease/s?  Cheers, love Janie. I was in physical therapy for over a year. I actually was just discharged on
Thursday. I started Orencia a month and a half ago and much of the
redness has disappeared. I really hope that this will continue. I didn't
have any side effects and felt pretty good afterward.

I hope you get the same results!

Becky

Geeze, Janie, you sound like you're going through a very difficult time.  I hope the Orencia helps you.  I've heard it works miracles for some so you're probably in for a very good experience.

The information you received from the therapist with regard to the nerve damage from RA is very interesting.  It's often difficult to tell what's causing nerve problems when you're dealing with spine/disc issues too.  I can see why you would think it's the discs causing your problem since RA is supposed to effect both sides of the body, not just one side.  But that's not always true, is it?

It sounds like you've got some good people helping you.  Good luck and take care.
