Hi , Calcium is real important, I chew those neat chocolate ones. Also, I take mtx , so need folic acid. I have a multi vit, and glucosomine/chondriton. I write everything down as I'm taking it or I'll forget if I have? My mind is sorta scary. I also keep a journal with a few sentences about how I feel that day, etc. Lynda < =text/>_popupControl(); Fish oil is another good supplement to take.  Folic acid if you are on mtx.

I take a multi vitamin with iron; folic acid; and calcium

Fish Oil as well

One thing that you have to watch for are that almost all of the vitamin supplements are loaded with immune boosters. At one time i bought some new, very expensive vitamins and every day became more painful as the immune boosters did their job. Now i make sure that there are no boosters in my vitamins and sometimes hard to find.

I take a sustained release vitamin c as it runs straight through the body, the sustained one lets out the vitamin at intervals instead of all at once. I also take a B6-B12 complex. I find it helps a lot with the moods/depression. I have low iron so take iron with added folate. From years of prednisone I now have osteopaenia so I take calcium with D as the D helps it to absorb into the bones.I also take glucosamine for the few joints I have OA in and last but not least is liquid fish oil.I want to encourage everyone to ask their doctors to test them for vitamin deficiency.  I have been taking fish oil, multi vitamins and calcium magnesium supplements for years, but I just recently found out I am deficient in Vitamin D.   I now have to take a prescription strength supplement in addition to all of the above.I take the Calcium with Vitamin D.
I get the generic bottle of this to make it cheaper.  You can find it at Walgreens.
On the recommendation of my PCP I have recently added Coenzyme Q10 to fish oil, flax oil, calcium with D, and ferrous sulfate. There are some promising early studies that suggest CoQ10 accelerates healing, enhances metabolism, and increases physical endurance.

One drawback if that until dosing levels have been decided I need to have blood glucose levels monitored at least monthly.

I keep a journal as well.  It's more like a checklist - one week per page, one column on the page per day, with boxes for meds, symptoms, weather, activity level, mood, etc.  and a big spot at the bottom for writing stuff.
Thanks everyone for your replies,Ill look into the vitamins..your a big help to me,Im glad I joined..... I take a multi-vitamin, folic acid and biotin.  I should probably be taking a Calcium supplement.Levlarry, What immune boosters should we stay away from?  I take folate, calcium, D, magnesium, b complex, flax, biotin.

Lev, what are some examples of immune boosting stuff found in multi vitamins?

I jst bought five different bottles of vitamins as tomorrow is my first Mtx day.

I've haven't been tking a multi-vitamin so may wait until next week instead of adding it tomorrow.

I do take calcium with Vitamin D because of the prednisone I take.

Hello Everyone ,

This is my first post. I've been taking MTX and Celebrex for about 6 months. It was working for awhile but now I'm back to swollen fingers, achy feet, shoulders....etc. Yesterday my Dr. told me that I need to start a new med Humira and continue with MTX as well.  He said that if I wanted to continue taking my alternative pills it would be fine. I don't think he hold much faith in them.I've been taking mega doses of Omega 3, biotin,b6,tumeric,caliciun-D, gloucosimine,MSM, Boswellia. I think the only one benefiting from this is the Health Food Store.

Has anyone out there heard anything about DMSO? Its the only thing I haven't been able to find.
