I have been on Predisone for a month now (10mgs) I am having a difficult time with mood swings. My voice is also changing to be real raspy like. I have phone my Rheumy to asked to have the doseage reduced but he wants me to stay on it until the Embrel is in my system ( I have had two injections) Has anyone else experience these types of symptoms?

Yes I had the moodiness too!!!! I started taking the Humira and weaned myself off though, after 3 years of taking it!!!!!

I have not had any adverse reactions to Prednisone but yours is a pretty low dose in my opinion. I would keep an eye on it and maybe write down the raspy voice to keep track of changes. All of these meds react so different to each of us. Miracle pill to some no help at all top others???? I hope the Embrel work for you and gives you some relief.

I have mild mood swings on 10mg of pred, they get worse the longer I am on that dose. Usually within a month of being on 10mg I get tessy and get irritated more easily at things and people. Anything over 10mg only takes me a week or so to get mean and hateful with folks.
Those little 5mg pills are very powerful. I'd suggest you call the doc and try 5mgs in the morning and if you don't have 'stiffness, swelling and pain' , try not to take more, if you do add 5 in the afternoon. THEN, when you can start reducing, go down 1 mg. per week (at least a week), and then on like that 10, 9, 8, etc. until you can get off. I was exhausted for a month after I got completely off of it. Maybe you don't need 10? What happened before you got on it?
