What time to you take your methotrexate and do you take it with food? Thanks again.

when I took it in pill form I took it at dinner time and yes I took it with food
I inject MXT and I take it late afternoon. That way most of the side effects are during the night and I sleep through them. LindyI take 4 pills in the morning with breakfast and 3 pills later in the day the next time I eat. Hopefully I have remembered to take the 3 by supper time, butsometimes I get up the next morning and see them above the kitchen sink and then I have them with breakfast.I take two pills one morning and two the following morning. Sometimes I take it with food. Other times I do not.I take all my meds at night after the evening meal...
I've found if I don't eat enough throughout the day and then I take MTX I'm sick to my stomach, so, I eat my 3 meals and swallow my 10 pills before I shut my lights out for bed. This way I'm not tossing my cookies, and sleep through the rest of the crappy feeling. The only thing left that I haven't been able to avoid, is the tired feeling the next day.

I take it with the MTX, but I know others have differrent insructions.I take the Folic acid every morning with my other meds. Im on High blood pressure meds.Good luck with the MTX. The absolute best advice I got (and I got it here, no surprise) was to split the dose and eat plenty of food and drink plenty of water with it. I take 8 altogether, two in the morning, two at dinner and four at bedtime. I used to take the folic acid every morning, including MTX day. Some are told not to take it on MTX day, it depends on your doctor. If the folic acid doesn't keep the mouth sores at bay, you can be given Luecovorin, which is a stronger folic acid supplement.
I remember how nervous I was when I started MTX. Don't worry, you'll do just fine one way or the other. Just keep asking every question that comes to mind. Knowledge will help you deal with all of this so much better.

I know it sounds silly but as your body gets use to the mtx it will get better. meme My doctor has me taking mtx 6 pills once a week,along with 1mg of folic acid a day to help side affects.I take it every sunday morning..never had any side affects with this combination..
