Hi to everyone! I've been lurking on and off for a year, maybe more, but never have posted. I have never been part of an online forum before. I was diagnosed with JRA as a child and spent 3 years of my life in a wheelchair. I'm now on methotrexate and remicaid, doing better, but not perfect. I am married with 2 kids who are the loves of my life, along with hubby. I work part-time as a psychologist and love my work. I do a lot of work as a life coach (trying to get people to reach their full potentials). I can't imagine sitting home all day feeling sorry for myself (not my style) and am not one to mince words and usually say what I'm thinking. I am looking forward to getting to know many of you on here. love, Jenna

Hey Jenna, glad you came "out of the shadows"

Hope the MTX continues to work for you.

Hey Jenna....welcome to posting. You sound inspirational! Hello amd welcome!

Hey Jenna -

Welcome!

Pip

Thank you for the warm welcomes. Linncn, after getting my BA degree in Psychology, I went on to get my PhD. In my practice, I work with a large number of disabled men and women. I don't play around though, if someone isn't there to WORK and cut the excuses out, they are wasting their time and money with me. I have even noticed from lurking on message forums......there are certain ones who seem to only be able to function in crisis or misery, while others are determined to succeed no matter what obstacles are in their way.

Jenna...I am so glad you are with us.  I hope you don't continue to lurk.  It sounds like you have a lot to give...thank you for that!  Join in and become a part of the crew!

Hi Jenna,

Good to hear from you.  I am new here also and did my fair share of lurking before posting.

Question:  When one is diagnosed with JRA as a child, is their condition then still referred to as JRA throughout their lifetime?

I just figured child=JRA=transition to adult=RA....no?

K.

Kat, my RD calls mine RA. I grew up with JRA......you still have a good question though!!!

Hi Jenna!!!! A shrink, eh?

Hmmm! Nut balls...speak for yourself...miss head of the nutballs.

Actually there is a candy that I make for christmas that is like a truffle by that name..

oh, food again, crap!

Hi Jenna! Very nice to meet you and so glad you decided to join us!

Have a great weekend!

< =text/>_popupControl(); Hi Jenna and welcome to the board!!!  I am a regualr nut ball around here that would give you a huge headache if you tried to analyze me lol!!!

Anywhoooo...welcome and I look forward to hearing more from you!!!  Glad you are not lurking anymore!  It is much more fun to be posting!!!

Welcome Jenna,

I am a none-too-frequent visitor around here.  Working full time and having a large family (although raised...some still live here) takes up a lot of time.

Your "byline" indicates that you also have Crohn's.  My 24 yo dtr has Crohns, too.  She was diagnosed at age 12.  I have RA and so did my mother.  We also have other autoimmune maladies in the family.

Welcome and hope you'll continue to stop by.  It's a friendly place with all kinds of people here.

Hi Jenna...welcome!

Hello and Welcome to our little group. It is always nice to meet another person who understands and can give their input.

Hi Jenna.  I saw your posts to Joonie before I saw this thread and I have to say, you've given some very good advice that we all can benefit from.  It's clear you will be a great asset to this board and I hope we can be helpful to you too.  Welcome!!!

Hi Jenna, there's enough work to keep you busy on this board for years. Welcome.

Ha Ha Sarah,

She will have to set up a Pay-Pal account. Hello and welcome!

Hello Jenna and welcome.

Hey Jenna, welcome to the board. I'm one of the rebel nutballs. You don't
have to worry about analysing me as everyone has already done that.

Since I am the one who thought you were being a bit self-righteous on your posts to Joonie, I thought I might explain a little further why I have the opinions I do.

I believe that counseling in private sessions where you have a relationship with your client is entirely different than giving advise/views on a support forum.  I completely understand why you use the techniques you do in your sessions.

But, on a message board, you are stating opinions formed by words written strictly for the support needed to get through a really bad day/week/moment.  Getting heavy handed right off the bat with no history of the person with whom you are dealing might not always be of help, or at least not the best way to help.

Just my opinion, and welcome to the forum.

Crispy

Crispy, as a mental health therapist, I totally agree with you. The first thing I learned in graduate school was....."meet the client where they are at". love, julia
