I posted this on Fibro link but since there is so much more participation here.  Anyone on Lyrica for Fibro?  I just started and pray that it will help.  Also, how many mgs. are you on?I'm on Lyrica and it's been very successful for me.  I'm up to 150 mg twice a day.  It can be a difficult med to get accustomed to, so I highly recommend a slow build-up to the needed dosage, and a slow taper if you decide to stop.

I love lyrica.  I take 75mg at night and have not been bothered with Fibro Flares since starting.  Now if I could only get the RA under control, lol.

My PCP has Fibro that is controlled with Lyrica.

Take care

I was prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain in my legs and also for fibro.  It has helped dramatically for both issues.  I take a total a total of 225mg a day.  Good luck. LindyLizzie started Lyrica when they found the pinched nerve behind her knee - the one that was making her toes all numb. It had been pinched so long it was damaged, so they wanted to try to help it repair. She hasn't stopped taking it even though that situation is over, because of the Fibro. It works pretty well for her, though I know I hear her say from time to time "I really think it's just the Fibro bugging me today" I mean, it's not a cure-all, but it sure seems to give her relief. :)I just started on Lyrica for escalating peripheral neuritis. It is too soon to be certain, but by this afternoon and a total of four doses of 75mg at bedtime, I _think_ I feel better all over. Time will tell.

As InnerGlow mentioned, it does take some getting used to. I noticed it tends to cause my vision to be blurry and also a increase in vertigo--nothing that cannot be compensated for, but worth mentioning. The one side effect that is most bothersome is an increase in "dry mouth". However, as long as that effect does not reach my eyes I can manage.

I was reluctant to add one more pill to the regime, but sometimes one more is just what it takes. It has worked very well for me for neuropathic pain. It enabled me to go back to work full time. It has been a miracle for me! I take 300 mg Ginger, I'm taking 75 mg now and have only been on it about a month.  My doctor told me that it can make you sleepy, so take it at night. I haven't noticed any major changes yet, but I'm on a pretty low dosage. I hope it provides you with some much-needed relief! I am on 150mg am and pm.  It has really helped with the pain in my feet.  I haven't noticed any side effects.

Forgot to say that I don't have any side effects and I've been taking Lyrica for 3 months.  L

I have a script for Lyrica for fibro but I've never had it filled...my legs stopped hurting after a few weeks so I didn't see the need for it. For you who do take it do you think it would help with muscle pain in the shoulders and back? I hate to take flexeril, it makes me a zombie with a bad attitude.

Ginger let us know how it works for you and...oh yeah... welcome to the board.

Moana, it's helped me with pain through out the muscles and nerves in my back.  I still have back pain but not as bad.  Since I've added Lyrica, switched to Humira and added Sulfazalin and quit Actonel my pain level has dropped by at least half, some days more.  I take a Lortab when I get up because of OA and I'm still stiff in morning and that's it until bedtime.  Why don't you try it for a couple of weeks and see if it helps with back pain.  Lindy

Thanks Lindy I think I will get it filled, I never thought about using it for my neck and shoulders, thought it was mostly for nerve pain. Most of the time I won't even take flexeril unless I'm really bad, it makes me so ill! < =text/>_popupControl(); Ooooo yeah try the lyrica.  I love the stuff.  It *still* gives me dry mouth, but I combat that with OTC stuff for dry mouth.  Uhhh...geeeze...RA brain fog...it is umm...OK it is Biotene spray that I use lol.  I had to get up and go look lol.  I also chew sugar free gum.  Love the Extra Sour Apple lol.

All in all the side effects go do go away in a couple of weeks and I really feel that you will feel a lot better on it.  The damaged nerve in the back of my knee doesn't bother me anymore.

That's great Liz, I am hearing more and more good reports on the Lyrica...my Dr mentioned in Aug. that people with fibro were getting a lot of relief with it...I should have already started it... I'm lame

Moana,  Flexiril did nothing for me.  I definitely think Lyrica could help you.  It has just been the past few days that I have been amazed.  Give it a chance.

Woo-hoo Ginger! I'm so glad it is working for you!!

I just wanted to add that Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, which is different from Lyrica.  For anyone who didn't find Flexeril helpful, you might want to consider Skelaxin.  I take both Skelaxin and Lyrica.

Ginger, I'm so excited to hear of the success Lyrica has had for you.  Do you really think you can avoid a wheelchair?  That's HUGE and I'm so happy for you.  This stuff sounds like a miracle for sure.  You sound like another of the many success stories I've been reading lately.

I'm so anxious to get off the MTX I'm going to ask for a trial of Lyrica and to cut down on the other meds next time I see the RD in Feb.  Since he thinks fibro is also involved, maybe I can get the same results I've gotten from the RA drugs with the Lyrica instead.  Thanks for updated us on your Lyrica experience.  You may have helped a lot of people out there.
