Lump on the back of my head | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone

Brand new to this message board site. Just recently come from third rheumy visit and they still undecided between lupus and RA but started me on plaquenil last week. Think its RA myself but anyway we'll wait and see....

Can anyone tell me if they have ever had lumps appearing on the back of their head? Went to my GP yesterday for my B12 and when I got home I discovered a fair sized lump on the right at the back of my head just about an inch above the hairline. Tender to the touch. Not sure if this is a common thing with RA or lupus and dont want to go back to my doc if I dont have to. Anyone got any ideas? Have had really bad neck pain for the past few weeks as well.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Funny you mention that....I had noticed one around the time I was diagnosed with RA in 1993.  Mine is more like 2 inches from the hairline, right side and feels hard like bone. Not perfectly round either.. There isn't one on the other side of my head and it's not tender or anything.

Welcome Joan; Hope you'll stick around and get to know us.

No real knowledge of lumps...but certainly know the neck pain!! Makes me crazy!! And I look like an idiot trying to act like I'm fine when I can barely turn my head!!!

Sorry; it's a sore spot for me today.

Again; Welcome to the group.

I had one of those not to long ago. Went to GP and he put a shot of cortisone in it and it took a few days and then it stopped hurting. Scared me at first, thought it was a cancer lump. But it wasn't. Seems like with RA or fibro you can get nodules all over your body. At least that has been my experience. Hope this helps you.

Welcome  and I know you will like it here. I have found great comfort in getting to know alot of the people here and they are very helpful when it comes to questions you may have.
