provigil? nodules? how often visits? | Arthritis Information

First of all, I hope you guys are all doing ok. I saw my doctor the other day and got switched to injectible methotrexate. Doc says, maybe NEXT visit I will have another med added, as current treatment isn't working. I have painful nodules on my fingers (do they go away during remission, btw?) I asked for provigil, as I feel my energy level is still too low (not sure if it's fibro or RA related), but she told me to wait until next visit (6 weeks away). Does provigil help any of you with energy? How often are your rheumatologist visits? Any insight on nodules and if they go away? thanks so much, julia

Provigil has allowed me to continue to work 1/2 time.  Without it my fatigue level was so bad I could hardly make it into the office at all.  I take it only on the days I work.  My RD prescribed 200mg tablets, but I find that with that dose I haave a hard time sleeping so I cut them in half and 100mgs on the days I work really help.  Not only with not getting sleepy and fatigued, but my concentration level is much improved, I am able to get more work done with less effort.

Good luck Juliah.  My RD gave me some samples so I could try it before prescribing and I found that very helpful.

I've had nodules that have gone away and some that have stayed.   The nodules I've had haven't been painful though.  Maybe it's their location?  I don't know.  Let your doctor know though about the pain.

Good luck!

Hello Juliah!  I use provigil and like Crispy I couldn't work with out it.  I take one in the morning everyday.  Even though I am doing so much better on enbrel, I haven't stopped taking them yet.  I will try during Christmas break when I am off work.  I would ask my PCP for them ASAP if it is for fatigue.  Why wait?  I go to the RD every 6 weeks.

Thank you all so much for writing. I think my rheumatologist wanted me to wait to see if the methotrexate and celebrex helped before starting provigil. I guess to try to narrow down which med is responsible for feeling better. I don't WANT to wait 6 more weeks to get energy though...I don't care what makes me feel better, just want to FEEL better!

I've gotten lazy about work, which isn't good as I'm trying to build a business. I think I might ask my primary doc about provigil.

Thank you all, Julia

Hi Julia,

Havn't seen you on in a little while. I  see RD about every 4-6 months. I have some nodules and it has been my experience that some disapear and some do not. I know thanks alot right.
