Good morning all. Well its a month til my trip to New York and its all i yak about so sorry
Hi Katie- Hows Justin? When is he coming home?
Justin might come home today!
I am having hypnotherapy for my claustrophobia next week, Im really nervous about it. I really want to do this New York trip but once that plane door closes im going freak
Hubby said he is off to work now and thinks my friends on AI are ganging up on him
I was gonna post something else, and I have NO idea what it was now. *sigh*
Temporary insanity katie, it happens to me all the time57 Plane flights OMG I'd be in a straight jacket by now
My favorite part of London was being right in the center, running around, taking the tube, not having a car. :) I really did just LOVE it there.
I am a bit nutty about the Junglebook especially Baloo the bear. ( reminds me of my hubby) We went on a visit to the disney shop and I came home with 4 friends who now sit proudly over my bed.
Goodmorning...I would LOVE to go back to NYC. Ive been their twice. Once when I was 13 and another a few years later. I feel safer in NYC then I do downtown Chicago.....strange huh? The first time I went down there i was walking from my aunt and uncles apt on 75th to the subway to get to NYU by myself....My aunt and uncle still live in NYC w/ a 2 yr old and 4 month old twins in a 2 bdrm co-op....CRAZY!!!!!!!!! You should meet up w/ them and they can be your tour guides. They know all the ins and outs of NYC. OMG I am sooo jealous you have no idea. Also, if you like Broadway plays (and they arent still on strike LOL) theres a place Id have to confirm where it is exactly maybe someone else can help out, But you can get tickets for Broadway plays that day for cheaper then you would if you bought them ahead. Maybe someone else can help me out w/ this. You have to get the claustophobia (sp?) fixed cause youve gotta go on the subway, and well, thats in a tunnel.Shannon I cant go on the subway, thats a definate no no. I dont take a train at home cause of tunnels, cant i just get a cab.Yea you could just take a cab, but what fun is in that
Just in case anyone could hear my Basset yowling from wherever you are (it was so loud it wouldn't surprize me) I was NOT dragging her to the slaughter house. I was only clipping her toenails. I am now just waiting for the Humane Society to come and take me away.
UGGGGGGGGGGGThere are two places to get discount tickets for Broadway. They are the TKTS booths - one in Times Square and one at South Street Seaport. Here is a link that will help explain that:
Another way is to go to the theatre which is showing the particular show you are interested in first thing in the morning, and ask them if they have any available "day of" tickets. My hubby and I were able to see Hairspray that way - we had to sit a row apart from each other, but it was worth it - it was a great show.
It's fun to go shop in Chinatown and the lower east side, eat at Katz's Deli, visit Radio City Music Hall, visit Tiffany's, Macy's. Eating at Bubba Gump Shrimp in Times Square is a lot of fun, as is Planet Hollywood. There's also Ellen's Stardust Diner, which is done in the 50's style and has singing waitresses and waiters who are all Broadway wannabees.
If you want to buy knockoffs of designer bags, sunglasses, watches, etc. it is fun, but never pay the price they first tell you. You can have the fun of bargainning with them and getting it for less. It's just part of the game, LOL! Actually, that is true of most of the shops in NYC - you can bargain with them for a better price.
Mugging isn't really happening in NYC they way it used to be. The city is much safer than it was years ago. Pickpockets are still a problem, so just be smart and don't put your money and credit cards in a spot that's easy to get to. Inside pockets of overcoats are good places, and it's always good to have some money and one credit card in a separate place, so if you lose your wallet, you still have access to funds.
I also suggest taking the Grey Line Sightseeing Tours. It's a great way to see the city, without doing all that walking. If weather permits, bundle up and ride up on the top of the double decker tour bus for the best view.
Many thanks for that Karen. We are definetly planning on a show so that was of great help. Any ideas on whats good? We have seen the Lion King, guys and dolls, chigago, billy elliot and dirty dancing at the west end . Bubba gump shrimp sounds like fun, the belly is begining to rumble
EDIT SPELLING
Hey your welcome...it took forever for me to get it out but there it is
Lisa, there are so many good shows right now! Ones that I have seen and recommend are WICKED, MAMMA MIA, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, HAIRSPRAY, PRODUCERS, LION KING.
I want to see SPAMALOT, JERSEY BOYS, PUTNAM CO. SPELLING BEE, DROWSY CHAPERONE, COLOR PURPLE.
And of course, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, which just opened, so getting tickets for it will be very difficult.
Let's see... I got anything off topic to say yet.... Nope.
Afternoon Everyone.
Hi Joonie glad you popped in.
Am I the only person who hasn't been to a performance? Well, crap, I haven't been to NY either!! Send tickets and money, I'll be there!
Hope everyone is having a great day! I actually feel pretty decent today - stiff but moveable. I thought my fog brain had lifted, but I went to WalMart and totally forgot about bread and lunch stuff for my hubby. Dof!! I need to invest in some post-its! Hehe!
I havent been to a show in many years....When I went to NYC when I was 12 we went to see Cabaret, Blue Man Group, and Fame. In Chicago I saw One Flew over the Cookoos Nest, Rent, Fidler on the Roof.
I did theatre in HS and I really miss it!!! We did some good shows to, we did Romeo and Joliet, Guys and Dolls, You cant take it with you, Phantom Tollbooth... I know there are more, they are just not commin to me right now.
My aunt and uncle that live in NYC, a good friend of theirs was a Broadway actress. Her name is Sophie Hayden. She is the sweetest person. She was on one of the Law and Order shows as well.
Yeah, invest as you might on them post-its, but if your kids are anything like mine they will take off with the post-its and post them all over the place.
I actually have less than 6 days to get my house straightened up and clean enough before my brother gets here. He will not be staying with me, nor will he proabably visit but to pick me & son up to go somewhere with them, but I at least want to appear that my house stays fairly clean.
I found out yesterday that I only had to this week work on getting thehouse the way it needs to be before he gets here. I mean I was totally shocked when hubby said "Yeah, your brother will be here next Monday." I was like "You LIE!" He was like "Nope today is the 12th, and next monday is the 19th." I was like "HOLY sh*t! I thought I had 2 WEEKS!!" He was like "Nope, your screwed." and then laughed. I was like "It is not funny, Mr. NotSoDamnFunnyRightNow!" He was like "Oh but, I AM so damn funny right now."
Anyways... I missed a whole week while be doped up on the sleepy meds, lost all track of the month and now, I am trying to talk the ole body into letting me do what I need to do, by upping pred to 30mg, taking lortab 10's, and yet I am still no closer to my goal. I have not even started. WOOOHHOOOO!! For laying in the bed w/heating pad.
All because I am clutz and stumbled and tried not to fall. Like I told my mom yesterday... I should have just let myself fall, probably would have been better off and not hurt myself so much and in so many different places. She agreed I think, but I think it was more like... i wish you had to do neither. hehehehe! Well, DUH! So, did I.
At least you have a week and not just one day! Just remember no one will be eating off the floor so mopping three times is unnecessary. And I don't think people pay close attention to the floor boards, so skip wiping them down or busting out with the vaccuum attachments. Only dust if it can be seen at eye-level. If they're not going in a room, there's no reason to clean it. Ooh, I have an even better idea. Screw stressing about cleanliness and wearing yourself down, hire some Merry Maids!!
I tried to get my mommy to help me out, but I mean... kinda feel bad asking a 73 year to come clean my house.
I have no closets. We have one and it is packed with stuff from when we moved up here. What? It's almost a 100 year old house they did not believe in closets.
Oh well... I am going to see if hubby will help me clean up a little. Other wise he can be my crutch and follow me around to make sure I make it across the room
You got a shed in your backyard? Instant closet!!! LOL
I wonder if there are any locals that do cleaning services in your area. One of my friends was going to start up her own business doing that. The woman actually LOVES to clean! She's a big weirdo.... guess that's why she's one of my friends.
Welp, if ya'll do not hear from me again in a week or so... just think positive thoughts
I try not to let the house get too messy, but there are days when taking care of the baby is plenty, you know what I mean? Then when I get to feeling better I think - how the heck did this place get so freaking messy?? LOL
Now that my sons are gone and it's just the three of us (my husband, daughter and myself) my house doesn't really get messy. It's not as great as it's cracked up to be....life was way more fun with a bunch of little kids even if the house was a mess.. She thinks cleaning is therapy. I actually need to get her over here and give me a hand. Merryn mentioned to SIL last week that she does a lot of the cooking these days and SIL said she would start making meals for us now that Merryn is working. The only reason Merryn does a lot of the cooking is that I work til 8pm Tues,Wed,Thur nights. Now I love SIL dearly but her casseroles are the pits. I'm hoping to be able to get around this somehow although I think the first one is due tonight. I wonder what surprise we will be having for dinner when I get home.OO in London I got to see Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis (six times!!!!), Oliver, Miss Saigon, Cats, Romeo & Juliet. And I think a couple others that escape me.....*Obviously* Les Mis was my favorite. Glad to hear he is home. Hope he has speedy recovery.
YAY Glad Justin is home!!! Have you guys gotten fun mail yet?????
Though you guys will have to play w/ it at home instead of the hospital...OMG that sounds soooooooo wrong....Its nothin dirty i promise Nothing dirty at all! Just a man to play with........a man and his bones........

Hey Link and Milly how are ya's Mona!!!! You do realize Boston Legal is on right now, don't you??? Well i stayed awake all day. That was a plus. Took night time meds a little sooner so i will maybe go to bed a little sooner. Alright day. Better mood for sure. It's safe Happ! I'm not a Cranky Yankee, I promise! Wasn't it a good episode Mona??? Karen I had a phone call and didn't catch the end!
Denny's case was dismissed - he won because of Allen's argument about obesity to the judge. You won't be disappointed it is sooo good. Do you have a good chocolate cheesecake recipe? I love them but never tried to make one. Karen and I were talking about Boston Legal...we're huge fans!]/quote] No, but try the allrecipe.com they have some very nice recipes and some handy hints as well.
Karen and I were talking about Boston Legal...we're huge fans!
Sorry Joonie, all cleaned out....I was thinking no one loved me anymore
Wonder where Gale is? And did Karen leave us? How is Liz? She's not sick again is she? OH Good For Liz! Did anybody see on the news where that stoopid woman was telling her kids, young teenagers, about sex and showed them her sex toys and how to use them???Been busy... got a boy with a broken thumb. We've got to see a hand surgeon because the break is on a growth plate. It was discovered by accident when we had to take him to the ER for an infected cut (not MRSA!). The doc wanted to make sure he didn't have any broken glass, etc in the cut, so she x-rayed it. No glass, but there is a small break. He asked the doctor if they had to take off his thumb could he please have a robotic thumb with a flamethrower installed. Oh, to be 8 again...
Oh wow, this could get interesting! You could eat a poppy seed bagel and tell them that is what caused it to test positive! Oh wow, this could get interesting! You could eat a poppy seed bagel and tell them that is what caused it to test positive! No Karen she was talking like and idiot and showing her 13 year old preverted stuff...we joke around here too.. I don't want my kids to think sex is a bad thing!I hate my job...
Oh Jas...sorry bout your son, hope he doesn't have to have surgery...robotic thumb huh?
No Karen she was talking like and idiot and showing her 13 year old preverted stuff...we joke around here too.. I don't want my kids to think sex is a bad thing!Yeah a friend of ours is a really health conscious, strict vegetarian, and drinks lots and lots of water. She had to take a drug test for work and was accused of trying to throw off the test because of all the water in her system! The company doctor called her at home and was really nasty and didn't want to listen to her explanation. It got really ugly for a while, but he finally back down.I agree Jasmine, if you're going to have a tail, it should be a prehensile one!
I agree Jasmine, if you're going to have a tail, it should be a prehensile one!
LOL Jas when they see your drug screen they'll probably have the police waiting on ya!
My son had to go to a gastro doctor this week. He's 17. The doctor asked him to undo his belt and pull his pants down a bit, so he could check his belly for tenderness. Jamie looked at him and said, "Aren't you at least going to buy me dinner first?"
A co-worker of mine got semi-busted for drinking too much water before his test, but it did buy him enough time to clear out his system for the re-test a few days later. He believes in better living through chemistry.

>>HERE<<is a really good and fairly easy New York style cheesecake recipe, Milly.Well my stupid shoulder just popped which you would think would be just a noise problem well now i can not lift the darn arm. Guess i will call it a night. Had a long day. Better rest the arm for work. As left hand typing is pretty slow. Guess it doesn't hurt unless i try to lift or use it that is one plus. Wrong it hurts if i move my head. Night.
Will I be a complete fool if I assume you are discussing a tv show and not a family matter? *LOL* hey Happ...have you ever tried the new york cheesecake recipe on the back of Keebler graham cracker crumbs box? It is the best I've tried so far.
hey Happ...have you ever tried the new york cheesecake recipe on the back of Keebler graham cracker crumbs box? It is the best I've tried so far.
No! I will have to put Keebler's on the shopping list! Flash is very good about getting "brand names" if I specify.Well if i ever get to the store i think it is a rubber gloves and bleach job now. But i may still just buy trash bags and pitch them. Or call my mother. When this arm acts up well it just quits working. Sort of painful and totally useless. Probably put it in a sling for a week or so that sometimes helps.

Ah...it has been more than twenty years since I have watched tv so I am really a dinosaur about the current shows.Mo'Nana! Clear out your PM box
No need to hide it... I'm completely legal. But they're so inept they'll probably fire me before they realize they have to see if there is a legit reason for the positive result
