Anyone heard of this? I"m appalled and concerned. This does affect us with
RA. It eats into the health care fund of America and is a health threat to all
of us. I'm writing to my congressman to find out why it is not a crime.

Is this it? I just don't get why anyone would want to contract HIV.
Definition: A gay man who deliberately attempts to contract HIV by having unprotected sex with a man or group of men known to have the virus.
It is sad, but I could see that happening. If everyone in your circle of friends was HIV-pos, you might feel left out, especially if they were all seemingly doing just fine. Like very young girls who want babies, too, when their friends have them.
I lived in a city with a large gay population and my best friend was gay with fullblown AIDS. No, he wouldn't want to get AIDS, but it was surprising the recklessness he encountered. Young guys, barely out of their teens, with no concern for safe sex. He couldn't believe it. He always had boyfriends, even a rabbi, then a priest. His lifestyle, until the end, would never make you think AIDS was that bad (I knew what he went through privately, though - days when he could not go out). He sold his life insurance policy to someone who gambled on his death, and bought a convertible Saab. After that, money was never a problem again. He had a lovely home, caring family, great clothes, sense of humor, and everything you would ever wish for, except of course his health. He might still be here, if his stomach had been able to tolerate the meds that worked so well for him and kept him alive long past any doctor's expectations.
Wow....Lori. That makes me think of that disorder called (I know I'm going to spell it wrong) Munchousin's by proxy. When the mom or maybe dad deliberatly harms their child so they can get attenion from the medicl community. Crazy.
