Life After Predisone | Arthritis Information

I was diagnosed on Oct. 4th, 2007, and placed on predisone  10mg shortly thereafter plaquenil 200mg and now 1 injection of embrel (having now taken 3rd injection).  The RA said once I was feeling great on the embrel he would slowing reduce the predisone.  My question to you all is, what will I experience when the reduction of predisone starts?  Will I experience fatigue, more pain, what? I realize everyone is different but when I initially started on predisone it was like "a miracle" I could actually move and I am afraid of what will happen when the reduction starts.  Any insight greatly appreciated?

Hi, Marsnick! Welcome to the boards! I wasn't on prednisone long enough to notice anything when I stopped taking it. I didn't handle the side effects well at all so I didn't call the doc or anything I just stopped taking it all together after about a week. My husband was relieved (as were the kids) cause MegaBitch went out the door. LOL

I know there are several people who had to be weened off the Pred and I'm sure they'll provide some insight for ya. However, I do know that I felt better physically when on the Pred and when I stopped taking it flared a bit. I was already on MTX and Enbrel though and after a while those drugs kicked in and started to try and take care of business. I hope you have it easy coming off the Pred.

Good Luck on the taper and keep us posted on how it goes for ya.
