Ok... do not think I have ever had a RA nodule, so.. not sure what they look like.

On the top of my left foot, I have a soft lump. It came up when my left ankle & foot decided to act up, after maybe twisting it (not sure).

Anyways... why would I get a soft lump the size of a dime on the top of my swelled foot? I had one one other time before, but it went away when the swelling went away, and that was on my right foot.

i have a few small ones on my hands. they are on the insides of my thumbs, right below the last joint there. they aren't painful for me, unless i press hard on them (which i don't do normally). But mine are all hard, not soft. and they are kind of pointy. Not sure if what you have is a nodule...

You know, back before I was diagnosed (like a year or so), I noticed a lump on my foot. I figured it was probably a knot from bumping it or something. I tend to ignore stuff like that. Plus, it didn't hang around too long and wasn't painful.

Joonie, I hope you don't have nodules!

I do not think it is nodules... I have looked it up... and well looks nothing like what is on my foot.

It is soft, and squishy, not painful, but just there. Today it is not such a lump now as it was the last 2 days. It is going down I guess. But still do not know what it is.

I was just hoping someone had an idea of what it was called or even caused it. I am guessing swelling is what causes mine

Joonie, could it be a cyst?

ummmm.... no. you cannot feel anything, you can just see it and feel the squishy. Hi Joonie,I have had RA for 27 years I have them all over starting to look like a porky pine lol,I also have 15 of them in my lungs some of them are soft others get hard some hurt others don't have had to have alot of them removed. There harmless but can be very painful.Just had another removed 4 weeks ago the worse ones are on the elbows .Hope this helps SandyJoonie I had something similar on the back of my leg in the calf area and my doctor said it was fatty tissue and not to worry about it.  It also was soft and squishy but did not hurt.  Hope this helps!HI Joonie, my Dr says mine are from bursitis, maybe same for you???  Janie. Joonie - I have the classic set of nodules on the underside of my left forearm, right below the elbow.  They popped up about five years ago, but it was my depression.  I have had two nodules in my right lung for almost 30 years, which my ex-hubby sans chiro had picked up on and told me they were calcified lymph glands and don't worry about them.  I would love the chance to tell him the truth.  The MDs fret over them all the time and pre-diagnosis had them CScanned every six months for two years and I finally said enough, its not the nodules, I am sick, run other tests please.  Now I have a new one in my left lung caught in the great barium debacle scan.  The ones on my elbow are hard and feel like bone.  Cathy

[QUOTE=joonie]Julez - I am sorry you have nodules on your thumbs. I bet that is just painful to do certain things with. But glad they do not bother you that much.

Well they've been around for 10 years now, ever since i was dx. They haven't grown and not many more have shown up and they're not really that painful or in the way. Just weird. Not really obvious either unless i extend my thumb to where they poke out a bit. Doc doesn't seem too worried about them so I don't either. Sometimes they're fun to show people cuz they freak out a bit :) Thanks though :)

hmmm, maybe the burstis thing that sounds most likely, my noduals are hard. I get ganglion cyst some times. That is just water filled cyst. in my foot i usually get on the top of the foot. You can press and the water filled cyst will pop up the other side of the bone in my foot. Last flare i got one under my knee the thing was huge. In the surgery room they called it a big old thing on her leg. A lady said is that a new surgical term and the nurse said look at it and tell me what you call it. They decided to go with big old thing on her leg. Well i had to get it removed twice and they took part of the tendon out of my leg. But the one in my foot it went away on it's own. And you know what i think nsaids give me those. I quit taking nsaids no cysts.
