RA Positive or Negative??? | Arthritis Information

I have been visiting this site for some time now and am curious to know how many are Sero-negative and Sero-positive. If you don't mind.. I am sero positiveSeronegativeSero-Positive - Janie. PositiveSero-negative Negative - always have been. 23 years! Essentially sero-negative. My RF runs between 20-30...just slightly elevated. Sed rates also run slightly elevated, but CRP is always sky high.negative (but usually a positive person) negative < =text/>_popupControl();

I am sero-negative and so is my 12 year old daughter.  I have been sero negative for 15 years.  She was just diagnosed back in April.

Very positive.

I was neg at the time of original dx (about 8 yrs after initial symptoms) but 6mos later I tested pos. My mom was dx'd at age 9 and is now 64...she has gone back and forth over the past 55 years between pos and neg.Positive,  but at 16.5, just a hair over the 13.9 normal range. Is a high RF of 468 what they mean when they say high RF usually indicates severity of prognosis?  What is high, my DR said mine was very high.  Thank God I don't have any erosions yet though and it has been 7.5 years.  I have severe pannus formation, major crepitus, synovial swelling, osteopaenia and trapped nerves/tendons/ligaments all over the place.  I would be interested to see others RF to get an idea, thanks in advance.  Janie. I am sero- negPositive for both RF and Anti-CCP.Positive !!

Janie -

I started AP at 706 RF and was diagnosed as severe early onset.  My RF has since dropped to 260 and we added in Zith - and I think I've dropped even more but won't get a blood test until next month.  The reason I think my RF has plummeted is I no longer have any morning stiffness at all.  For the last week I keep forgeting to take my meds.

My AP doc said a high RF is a sign of infection and usually means AP will work.  I took that as gospel.  :-)

sero negative and it is very frustrating.

Welcome to the site!

Positive at 144.

PositivePositiveAbout eight months into this and am sero-negative.

Sero-Negative

Negative positive, RF was 37 and crp was 127, plus i had other neutral markers of inflamaation that were positive or high or whatever. i find that the most confusing and unfortunate think about ra, that people can be negative and still have it.  they have got to come up with a better test imo sero-negativePositive

152 the last time it was checkedSero-NegativeI was first diagnosed as RA sero-negative.  Then, when I got some weird rash, they decided it must be psoriatic arthritis.  It seems more like RA to me though, symetrical, etc.

It's been many years, about 6 and I haven't had Rheumatoid factor tested, I would be curious as to what it is.

I was positive when I was first diagnosed but the past year or so i have become stero-negative.

negative!

Hmm, good question but I'm not sure.  I guess undifferentiated means negative because some tests are positive (ANA, ANCA, RF factor) but sed rate and CCP are normal.  I like to be difficult.  [QUOTE=Jesse88]Hmm, good question but I'm not sure.  I guess undifferentiated means negative because some tests are positive (ANA, ANCA, RF factor) but sed rate and CCP are normal.  I like to be difficult.  Well...as it stands right now...the thread is about 50/50.
   Positive--RF 288; anti-CCP  368.Negative here.

My RF in April was 1,092

I didn't know that one could go from+RF to -RF as some have posted.

Also, it appears that of those who have posted actual numbers, my RF is far and away the highest so far.  I've been very concerned about this since I was given the results of my bloods.

How often should one ask for a repeat of the RF?

K.

Katalina - while I've never tested positive for any of this, I do know that when I was at my worst and flaring terribly, I had my bloodwork done as often as once a month for a while there. I dunno what the standards are today though. This was back in the 80spositive

Katalina -

Girl, they are looking for people like you.  Do a search.  RF over 1000 and over 2000.  I think they pay good money for your blood.

And...sorry to sound like a broken record but...AP!

Damn, it's stuck.

I snorted my diet coke!

LOL

P.S.  Anybody with high RF's - labs are looking for your blood!  Save us!

I am RF positive but it only said positve do not know the score? Maybe i can call the lab that ran the test? positive anti-ccp of 100. But i just must of been sero neg before because this by far and wide is not my first flare. sed rate was 43 after a month of pred. Doc wants specialist to run the rest of the test. And i do have to check on my c reactive protien they never told me how that one came out. Neg ANA.  Well they have tested me 7 times scince age of 23 but just recently was the first time to show up on bloodwork. Last test was about 7 years ago i do not think they had an anti-ccp then it is a newer test. And i believe they have new guide lines on RF test but not 100 percent sure of that as i was reading something that was over my head, very scientific. edit adding a foot note called the lab they will give the RF numbers to the doctor if i can get him to request them. The lab does not like to scare patients. They said sometimes people have a really high score and freak out unnecassarly so that is why they just put positive or negative, so for those with positive or negative scores ask your doc to contact lab if you are looking for numbers. Had creactive protien done at start of flare before i was really swelling it was 5.4 high risk, but not acute. And if i get my rf numbers i will let you know. Just positive for today.milly39402.5793171296

Katalina,

I just received my newest blood tests - the RF is still low at 18.5, anti-CCp same (low at 10), but sed rate is down a bit and CRP way down.

I was thrilled, as I have not needed any meds yet other than a few aspirins. I asked my RD if these test results are encouraging....she really burst my bubble by telling me, basically, NO, that a low RF doesn't  matter, I still have RA.  She said she will no longer test for RF or anti-CCP, just sed rate and CRP.
